About the Position
The Business Intelligence Developer will be a key member of the City's Information Systems team, playing a vital role in shaping the direction of data usage within the City. This position will involve creating reporting and analytics, providing decision-makers with actionable insights, and collaborating with business partners across the City to gather requirements. The developer will support enterprise data projects, identify key performance indicators (KPIs), and create meaningful data visualizations that business partners can leverage to effectively manage the City of Saint Paul. Additionally, the role will contribute to promoting a data-driven culture throughout the City.

Primary responsibilities of this role include:
  • Participates in development and creation of data warehouse and database reporting environments
  • Designs and develops ETL process and data pipelines
  • Designs and develops appropriate data models and implements them in the necessary technology
  • Writes and troubleshoots SQL code
  • Contributes to enterprise data infrastructure planning and development
  • Works with business partners to define and develop solutions for business intelligence needs
  • Communicates with front-end users to ensure deliverables meet expectations
  • Develops reporting frameworks and reporting deliverables
  • Helps business users leverage the appropriate business intelligence techniques and tools
  • Provides training and capacity building support in data stewardship to business partners
  • Manages the City's data and metadata to ensure security, extensibility and truth
  • Champions data culture in the City
  • Provide data access for City staff and the public via enterprise data access tools.

Position Requirements
A Bachelor's Degree in Information Management, Computer Technology or related field; and four (4) years of vacancy-related work experience, or vacancy-related technical school certificate and six (6) years of work experience related to the vacancy.

Work experience must have included business analysis and project definition that would allow one to gain a good understanding of technology relevant to the vacancy.

Professional experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis. A combination of education and experience must total 8 years or more.

May require a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License, or equivalent out-of-state driver's license.
