Description:

About the team

Adaptive ML is helping companies build singular generative AI experiences by democratizing the use of reinforcement learning. We are building the foundational technologies, tools, and products that allow models to learn directly from user interactions and self-improve based on simple guidelines. Our founders come from diverse backgrounds and previously worked together in creating state-of-the-art open-access large language models. We closed a $20M seed with Index & ICONIQ in early 2024 and are live with our first enterprise customers.

About the role

We're looking for a highly organized, analytical, and execution-focused Business Operations Manager to help scale our company and drive operational excellence across the board. In this role, you'll partner closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to shape strategy, set priorities, execute critical initiatives, and keep the business running smoothly as we scale.

You'll operate across strategic planning, tactical execution, internal communications, and complex cross-functional challenges - from driving company-wide initiatives to streamlining day-to-day operations. You'll bring structure to ambiguity, operationalize strategy, and use data to guide decision-making, all while ensuring our operations are efficient, scalable, and in line with our broader goals.

This is a high-impact, hands-on role for someone who thrives on solving complex problems, aligning stakeholders, and making things happen. You should be comfortable shifting context fluidly, working at multiple altitudes, and continuously reprioritizing in a fast-paced environment. You'll need to wear many hats - from designing comprehensive solutions to getting into the weeds when needed. We're looking for someone self-driven, resourceful, and business-minded, with a strong bias for action and an eye for excellence, creativity, and clarity.

This is an in-person role based at our New York or Paris office.

Your responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end projects across various functions, including strategy, partnerships, people operations, and customer success;
  • Identify and implement process improvements to drive efficiency, scalability, and operational excellence;
  • Track, analyze, and report on KPIs across teams to inform strategic decisions;
  • Ensure smooth day-to-day operations by coordinating across functions and managing execution across workstreams including GTM, Product, People Operations, and Legal & Compliance;
  • Support hiring efforts, including managing recruiting pipelines, coordinating with recruiters, and helping onboard new team members;
  • Analyze data and financials, build models and scenario analyses, and distill insights to guide decision-making and recommendations - from ROI to financial forecasts;
  • Report clearly on your work to a distributed collaborative team, with a bias for asynchronous written communication.
Your (ideal) background

The background below is only suggestive of a few pointers we believe could be relevant. We welcome applications from candidates with diverse backgrounds; do not hesitate to get in touch if you think you could be a great fit, even if the below doesn't fully describe you.
  • 4-6+ years of experience in business operations, strategy, venture capital/ private equity, or consulting, ideally with at least 2 years operating within a high-growth company;
  • Proven ability to take full ownership of large, ambiguous problems - breaking them down into structured, actionable plans and driving them to completion;
  • Proactive and passionate self-starter who thrives under pressure, with high adaptability, a strong bias toward action, and the ability to constantly prioritize in fast-paced, dynamic environments;
  • Exceptionally analytical, with a strong grasp of both quantitative and qualitative analysis; able to surface key questions, uncover insights, and communicate them clearly to drive decisions;
  • Willing to dive into any project - no task too big or too small - with a hands-on, learn-as-you-go mindset;
  • Comfortable operating at all altitudes - from discussing strategy with leadership to troubleshooting operational challenges with colleagues;
  • Passionate about the future of generative AI, and eager to build foundational technology to help machines deliver more singular experiences;
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as the ability to asynchronously collaborate across timezones.
Benefits
  • Comprehensive medical (health, dental, and vision) insurance;
  • 401(k) plan with 4% matching (or equivalent);
  • Unlimited PTO - we strongly encourage at least 5 weeks each year;
  • Mental health, wellness, and personal development stipends;
  • Visa sponsorship if you wish to relocate to New York or Paris.
