An exciting new opportunity has arisen to lead the Neuroscience, Cardiology, and Immunology Business in Puerto Rico. This role will be driving the commercialization success of our current pipeline and upcoming launches, ultimately creating value and impact for our medical community and patients.

We are seeking a dynamic, performance-driven leader who thrives in a matrix environment, fosters collaboration, and centers their approach around the customer. The ideal candidate promotes agility and innovation while managing risk appropriately.

This individual will work closely with the Neuroscience, Cardiology, and Immunology Cross-Functional Teams across Puerto Rico, LATAM, and the US. They will also be a crucial member of the Puerto Rico Leadership Team. This position reports to the General Manager, Puerto Rico and Caribbean.

As a strong Business Unit leader, both internally and externally, this individual will be instrumental in ensuring that our medicines reach and benefit patients effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Expand the Neuroscience, Cardiology, and Immunology overall strategy with strong partnership across the organization.
  • Advance our Commercialization model, adopting the newest and most disruptive technologies. Accelerate the digital transformation with the patient at the center
  • Leads the development and execution of customer-focused strategy that drives superior short-term and long-term market performance through effective investment, innovation, resource allocation and prioritization.
  • Maximize access and reimbursement by shaping healthcare policies that protect and recognize innovation
  • Ensure robust preparation in advance of all new product launches and new indications
  • Makes strategic decision and adaptation where necessary to maximize opportunities for growth and in line with the changing external landscape
  • Builds and develops strong cross functional teams with a cohesive and collaborative culture that embraces diversity & inclusion and drives employee engagement across all functions
  • Builds and manages a high performance team with a focus on operational excellence and continuous improvement to enable scalability to overcome challenges
  • Effectively analyze customer insights, brand performance, market trends, & competitive response to inform strategic plan which addresses key challenges and capitalizes on prioritized business opportunities.
  • Build and maintain value based stakeholder networks and relationships internally and externally to develop key insights and advance our business. Place customers at the center in addressing needs and finding business solutions.
  • Foster team effectiveness and accomplishment of shared goals by sharing knowledge, experience and insights.
  • Cultivate a high-performing, inclusive, and accountable workforce driven by a passion for our patients and customers
  • Promote a culture of openness, diversity and inclusion that drives innovation and employee engagement across all functions;
  • Ensure business objectives and practices are fully compliant with relevant laws, regulations and BMS standards of business conduct and ethics.


Qualifications & Experience:
  • Education:
    • BA/BS required.MBA, PharmD, or other graduate experience strongly preferred.
    • 10+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience in Marketing and Sales across PR/US markets
    • Leadership and commercial experience in Puerto Rico markets strongly desired with a deep understanding of the healthcare dynamic.
    • Successful experience in Neuroscience, Cardiovascular, and Immunology,
    • Proven leadership experience in selecting, leading, developing, and motivating teams to achieve results.
    • Ability to inspire and guide teams, positively impacting culture, employee engagement, and wellbeing.
    • Experience in setting and measuring key performance indicators to improve team performance.
    • Track record of effective coaching of individuals and leading teams.
    • Ability to successfully collaborate with and influence peers and teams, making appropriate trade-offs as needed.
    • Adept at working with cross-functional, matrixed teams, maintaining strong relationships and influencing outcomes.
    • Strong decision-making capabilities, proficient in resource allocation, prioritization, and innovation focus.
    • Proven success in driving operational excellence in a matrix organization by establishing deliverables, contingency plans, and metrics.
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate, persuade, and convey information credibly and convincingly.
    • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Experience working cross-functionally at a senior management level and guiding complex business decisions at a leadership level.
    • Strong analytical skills in market research, competitive data collection and analysis, financial analysis, and crystallizing key business insights.
    • Proven record of product launches and commercialization experience.
    • Experience in dynamic markets, including economic, political, and social environments.
    • Proven track record in change and innovation management, with a strong sense of priority, focus, and results.
    • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and persuade internal and external stakeholders to achieve outcomes.

On-site Protocol

BMS has an occupancy structure that determines where an employee is required to conduct their work. This structure includes site-essential, site-by-design, field-based and remote-by-design jobs. The occupancy type that you are assigned is determined by the nature and responsibilities of your role:

Site-essential roles require 100% of shifts onsite at your assigned facility. Site-by-design roles may be eligible for a hybrid work model with at least 50% onsite at your assigned facility.
