Summary of Position:
The Online Learning Specialist serves as a key leader in developing and implementing innovative digital learning experiences within our K-12 online education programs. This transformative role combines expertise in curriculum design, cutting-edge instructional technology, and educational leadership to support multiple school districts, educational partners, and stakeholders throughout the state. The position requires a forward-thinking specialist who can drive innovation in digital pedagogy while ensuring educational excellence and accessibility for all learners across diverse educational contexts.
The ideal candidate will lead initiatives and support teachers in reimagining traditional learning models through emerging technologies and research-based practices, while considering the unique needs and resources of diverse district partners. They will orchestrate the seamless integration of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), and accessibility frameworks within digital learning environments and support the effective design and delivery of K-12 online learning for all BVA partner schools.

2025-26 school year range: $87,037-$108,796
*Placement is based on years of direct experience in a comparable role.
Schedule:
Monday - Friday
7.5 hours a day
260 days per year

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and manage K-12 online curriculum aligned to state standards and district goals.
- Support teachers in implementing Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and accessibility best practices.
- Lead integration of instructional technology and multimodal learning strategies in online courses.
- Manage and maintain Learning Management Systems (LMS), especially Canvas, including course templates and assets.
- Ensure compliance with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1, Section 508) in all digital content.
- Coordinate curriculum mapping, pacing guides, and assessment frameworks across grade levels and subjects.
- Provide coaching and professional development on online instruction, digital pedagogy, and instructional tools.
- Monitor and evaluate course effectiveness using analytics and teacher/student feedback.
- Lead course quality assurance and review cycles using established rubrics (e.g., Quality Matters, OSCQR).
- Collaborate with IT and operations teams on LMS integrations, technical requirements, and updates.
- Guide implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) in online course design.
- Develop and support differentiated instruction and personalized learning pathways.
- Train and support teachers in using LMS features, assessment tools, and accessibility resources.
- Ensure consistency in course structure, branding, and user experience across all partner schools.
- Manage digital content libraries, version control, and metadata for instructional materials.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Instructional Technology or related field required
- Minimum 3 years of experience in online education, course development or online program management required
- Valid teaching license with mimimum 5 years of K-12 teaching experience preferred
- Background in instructional coaching or teacher mentoring preferred
- Demonstrated expertise in course development and instructional design
- Advanced proficiency in learning management systems and educational technology
- Expertise in UDL and accessibility standards
