Mechanical CAD Area Lead
The primary focus of this position is on management of the Generation Mechanical drafters and designers. The successful candidate will support the Department Manager with tasks such as workload coordination, delegation of assignments, and the oversight, review, and completion of project work within the Department. In addition to production, this Area Lead role includes the managerial responsibilities that support the hiring, training, and development of staff members as well as interfacing with clients and other POWER Generation Departments.

Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities
- Support the Department Manager with the following:
- Perform and direct others in the detailed design and production of CAD/Modeling deliverables for projects relating to power plant design, renewable energy, operating plant solutions (OPS)
- Assist in assigning resources to projects
- Coordinate work across offices, both intradepartmental and external to the department
- Coordinate closely with the Generation CAE Department for software administration
- Oversee, mentor, and develop drafters and designers
- Perform performance reviews
- Operate within and enforce POWER's QA/QC processes
- Assist with the recruitment of new staff members and hiring
- Develop a training plan for the Department in coordination with the DM and the Department's business plan
Desired Education/Experience
- A.A.S. from an accredited institution in Design Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field, and five years of demonstrated and documented experience in the power generation or operating plant solutions areas
- Ten (10) years of demonstrated and documented experience in the mechanical discipline within the context of power plant design or operating plant solutions
- Demonstrated and documented experience in the development and delivery of drafting services projects
- Demonstrated and documented experience in leading a project team
- Demonstrated and documented experience in managing/supervising personnel
- Familiarity with current technology and software utilized within power generation, operating plant solutions, and drafting services projects, to include at least a simple majority of the following:
- AutoCAD
- Microstation
- Smartplant (S3d)
- CADWorx
- Contemporary point cloud authoring/editing software
- The candidate must have a strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel
