The CAE Optimization Engineer will be supporting many teams such as NVH, durability, crash, production and manufacturing design. They will apply optimization to minimize mass, maximize performance, and solve. Problem solving and critical thinking skills are essential since complex problems need to be broken down into simplified solvable blocks. The candidate must be highly motivated and interested in learning structural optimization and exploring new ideas, processes and be able to make data driven decisions.

Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid's equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs. (Cash or equity incentive awards, if any, will depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and company performance.)
Base Pay Range (Annual)
$110,600-$152,020 USD

The CAE Optimization Engineer will be supporting many teams such as NVH, durability, crash, production and manufacturing design. The Role
- Set up optimizations - design space, loadcases, approach, design responses, constraints, design variables, objective - and post-process the results.
- Interpret optimization results and developing realistic and manufacturable solutions.
- Sub-system level optimization for modes, stiffness and stress.
- Full vehicle level mass, static and dynamic stiffness optimization.
- Multi-domain optimization.
- Optimization of castings meshed as 2D/3D.
- Gauge, Free-Size, Topology, Topography optimizations.
- Multi-material optimization.
- Collaborate and work with other teams to develop optimized solutions that work for all CAE attributes.
- Be able to work independently and give design directions during the concept design phase with initial design space.
- Use optimization tools and low-fidelity CAE methods to establish optimal load paths which considers multiple attributes (i.e. Crash, NVH, durability).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree with 2 years of related experience or an advanced degree with no experience. Field of Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Optimization related experience in automotive or aerospace will be a benefit.
- Thorough understanding of finite element analysis and fundamentals of engineering.
- Must be familiar with at least one solver and pre-post processor such as LSDYNA, OPTISTRUCT/NASTRAN, OASYS, ANSA, META and Hyperworks.
- Some experience with CAE optimization methods and techniques a benefit.
- Good scripting skills in tcl, python or similar.
