COMPENSATION
$99.00 Daily rate.

The Camper Advocate assists staff in creating strategies, plans and support for campers' mental and social emotional wellbeing to contribute to a positive camp experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Works closely with all camp staff to create plans, provide guidance and direct support for campers who need mental or social emotional support.
- Communicate with camp staff, parents, guardians or caregivers as needed to develop individualized camper support plans to contribute to a successful camp experience.
- Assists with planning, scheduling and facilitation of program activities, and supervision and leading campers during activities and throughout camp.
- Assist in responding to behaviors and situations that may arise at camp, which involves on-the-spot thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Adheres to all council policies and procedures.
- Observes all safety precautions and complies with all council health and safety rules and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet camp goals and objectives.
Experience and Skills
Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Bachelor's degree OR equivalent combination of education or work experience in child development, social work, or related field.
- Knowledge and prior experience utilizing M.E.S.H (Mental, Emotional, and Social Health) theory and methodologies, preferably in a youth environment.
- Prior-related experience in a youth camp or school environment, preferred. Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
- Exceptional patience, listening skills and ability to handle and resolve conflict and issues.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize deadlines, work in a professional manner in a youth-focused environment.
- Access to reliable transportation.
- Belief and support of the mission and values of Girl Scouting; be willing to subscribe to the principles expressed in the Promise and Law and GSSD mission, vision, and values.
