Position Summary
LRHHCC physicians are responsible for the care of cancer patients in both the inpatient and Cancer Center setting. As an active member of the medical staff, he/she provides direct clinical care to patients and assumes on-call responsibility for patients assigned. He/she must also take Emergency Room call when assigned and assume responsibilities of patients admitted to LRMC through the Emergency Room when they are on duty. He/she reports administratively to the Cancer Center Administrator and works with the Administrator and other Managers in developing new programs and in fully supporting the goals and strategies of the Center. Provides input into decisions that impact the operations of LRHHCC as an active staff member.

- Standard Work Duties: Cancer Center Oncologist
- Actively participates in team development, achieving dashboards, and in accomplishing department goals and objectives.
- Provides quality clinical care to all assigned patients regardless of patient classification across the continuum of care. Such care is provided in keeping with and abiding with the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of LRH and the Cancer Center. Provides on-call coverage to the Cancer Center and Emergency Room as assigned. Provides professional and administrative services in accordance with generally accepted ethical and professional standards and maintains such records, reports, and documentation evidencing the delivery of services to patients, including the completion of encounter forms, and dictation within 48 hours of patient visits.
- Carries out job duties in a manner that enhances positive professional relationships with staff, patients and families, and other physicians. Works within the multi-disciplinary team structure to provide high quality consultation-liaison services to the LRCC/LRMC clinical departments so that quality outcomes are achieved.
- Demonstrate good medical staff citizenship through active participation in the LRHHCC Executive Committee, Cancer Conferences, Tumor Board, and other LRHHCC committees for the advancement and accreditation of the cancer program of LRH. Actively participates in other hospital assigned medical staff meetings and committees as appropriate. Assists with the development of and participation in community education programs to increase public awareness about cancer prevention, screening, detection, major treatments, and current oncologic therapies.
- Participates as an investigator in national and local research clinical trials and protocols and assists with the publication of outcomes data from clinical trials and research activities.
- Provides input into the hiring and evaluation of Cancer Center support staff through coordination with the program leader and appropriate manager, and participates in the orientation of new staff to ensure the successful performance of duties so that retention of employees is achieved.
- Demonstrates commitment to the vision, core purpose/mission and goals of LRHHCC/LRH, and models organizational values and culture. Promotes and participates in activities for the achievement of patient, customer, and employee safety and satisfaction goals.
- Assumes responsibility for personal and professional growth and development of one's own potential, including participating in Risk Management programs and other activities that promote quality patient care and safety.
- Participate in the recruitment and hiring of physicians at LRHHCC. Participates in matters that impact the operations of LRCC and is accountable to present issues that may impact the day-to-day operations of the Center.
- Use best efforts to build relationships with community physicians and develop strong referral patterns. Assists with achievement of financial targets for Cancer Center through developing and monitoring of budgetary goals, development and tracking of volume projections, and achievement of physician productivity goals. Assists Cancer Center in evaluation selection and implementation of new technologies and programs.
