Role:

Lead the development, enhancement, and management of our debit and credit card portfolio. Responsible for analyzing the current portfolio, identifying growth opportunities, and developing new card products that meet the evolving needs of our members. This role will also focus on enhancing our Rewards program, supporting growth initiatives, and increasing card interchange revenue.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
  • Work with Lending Management to determine a card growth strategy. Define product roadmap and product market fit to achieve company goals.
  • Monitor industry trends regarding payment services, analyze performance, review reports, create and maintain statistics on portfolio growth, and work with third party vendors to reduce costs and increase revenue to meet the organizations objectives.
  • Analyze existing card portfolio to target member segments with increased revenue potential.
  • Implement strategies to increase card usage and transaction volume, thereby driving higher interchange revenue.
  • Conduct regular analysis of the current card portfolio to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Work with internal departments and third parties to develop and implement programs that increase awareness and promote the use of the Credit Union's card services.
  • Demonstrate an expert knowledge of the systems, policies and procedures related to the Credit Union's card products.
  • Collaborate with necessary parties to establish and review success metrics, key product indicators, product revenue and design a continuous improvement plan.
  • Collaborate with other departments to understand the pain points of non-performing cards, fraud risk and redesign the product policies to fit with business objectives.

  • Ensure all card programs are aligned to the business objectives and desired member and employee experience, and contribute to increasing market share, share of wallet, member retention, and product and customer profitability.
  • Recommend, develop and implement enhancements to existing or new card product lines that will assist in achieving profitability of the product and member service improvement goals.
  • Conducts regular review on market trends and studies competitor activities to identify opportunities. Initiates product ideas and ongoing features/benefits tailored for each target segment.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as card usage, member satisfaction, and profitability.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on portfolio performance for senior management.
  • Evaluate and enhance the existing rewards program to drive member engagement and satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with vendors and partners to introduce new rewards options and promotional offers.
  • Analyze the impact of rewards program changes on overall portfolio performance.
  • Identify and pursue new opportunities for member acquisition and retention.
  • Support cross-sell initiatives within the credit union to increase card penetration.
  • Monitor interchange fee structures and optimize pricing strategies as needed.
  • Work with vendors and payment networks to ensure competitive interchange rates.


Knowledge and Skills:

Experience - Three to five years of similar or related experience. Previous card services management experience in a financial institution is preferred.

Education - Equivalent to a college degree, professional certification or advanced coursework in a related field.

Interpersonal Skills - Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others for the purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.

Other Skills - Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and analytical skills, including the ability to interact effectively with members, employees, and management, are essential. The ability to plan and execute multiple projects while balancing department and organizational demands is a must.
