Minimum of 1 year as an Echo Sonographer

License:
Registration as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer

Certifications:
BLS - American Heart

Must-Have:
- Professional knowledge of echocardiology techniques
- Ability to independently perform diagnostic echocardiogram procedures
- Experience in 2D/3D cardiac imaging, transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress echo
- RDCS or CCI registry
- Experience with contrast
- EPIC EMR experience
- Understanding of a drug-free workplace

Job Description:

- Follow established policies and procedures to perform and record echocardiology diagnostic tests.
- Obtain information about normal and abnormal anatomy for disease diagnosis.
- Ensure echo exams are of acceptable quality and accurately record results.
- Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the ages of patients served.
- Review patients' charts and results of previous studies.
- Select appropriate equipment and explain test procedures to patients to ensure cooperation.
- Interview patients and/or caregivers to gather and record pertinent personal and medical information.
- Assist patients with proper positioning.
- Move transducer over specific body areas and observe the sound wave display to detect pathologies.
- Capture images in CPACS and resolve any quality assurance issues.
- Utilize EPIC workflow for ordering, scheduling, documenting, and charging department procedures.
- Discuss test results with physicians and departmental personnel as needed.
- Perform minor equipment adjustments and notify leadership of serious malfunctions.
- Maintain equipment cleanliness and replenish supplies as necessary.
- Perform clerical duties such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and distributing test results.
- Stay informed of current trends in the field through reading and attending seminars.
- Support continuous quality improvement efforts to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
- Assist in the clinical training of new partners and students.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all personnel and external agencies using services.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

- Ability to stoop, bend, reach, grab with arms and hands, and communicate effectively.
- Manual dexterity and color vision required.
- Use of a keyboard and video display terminal to input and audit information daily.
- Proofread and check documents for accuracy regularly.
- Stand for up to 3 hours at a time.
- Ability to push portable ultrasound units, stretchers, and wheelchairs.
- Position patients regularly.
- Lift objects up to 20 pounds and carry objects up to 10 pounds daily.

Working Conditions:

- Work in a patient care area with exposure to infectious disease.
- Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate safety equipment to minimize risk.
