Job Title: Cardiac Sonographer II
Job Specialty: Echocardiology

Shift: 8-hour days
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: Minimum 1 year as an Echo Sonographer
License: Registration as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer
Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) - American Heart
Must-Have: Professional knowledge of echocardiology techniques and ability to independently perform diagnostic echocardiograms

Job Description:

- Perform and record Echocardiology diagnostic tests in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Obtain and analyze information about normal and abnormal anatomy to diagnose disease.
- Ensure echo exams are of acceptable quality and accurately record results.
- Review patient charts and previous study results, select appropriate equipment, and explain tests/procedures to patients.
- Conduct patient interviews to gather and record relevant medical information.
- Assist patients with proper positioning and manipulate transducers to detect pathologies.
- Capture images and maintain competency in determining the use and delivery of contrast agents.
- Discuss test results with physicians or other staff, repeating processes as needed.
- Maintain equipment in clean, working order, and notify leadership of serious malfunctions.
- Handle clerical duties such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and distributing test results.
- Stay informed about current trends in echocardiology by reading literature and attending seminars.
- Support continuous quality improvement efforts to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
- Assist in training new staff and students, and develop positive working relationships with medical personnel and agencies.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate patient care.
- Have the ability to recognize anatomic abnormalities, adjust equipment settings, and identify irregularities during ultrasounds.
- Prioritize and organize the daily workload with attention to detail.
- Perform physical tasks such as stooping, bending, and lifting objects up to 20 pounds.
- Work in a patient care area with exposure to infectious disease, following safety procedures.
- Use keyboard and video display terminals to enter, retrieve, and audit information.
- Possess 2D/3D cardiac imaging experience, including transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress echo.
- Experience with contrast and electronic medical records is preferred.
- Pediatric echo experience is preferred but not required.
