POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
Teaching Associate
Full-time, 12-month (July 1-June 30) academic position on a yearly appointment and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Anticipated start date in Summer/Fall 2024.
Be a member of the Cardiothoracic Surgery multidisciplinary team that includes physicians, fellows, residents, and RNs providing inpatient and outpatient care services to patients and families
Successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialty consultation and clinical care across the continuum of care primarily for thoracic surgery patients
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Work on a dedicated cardiothoracic inter-professional team with other established APPs and Cardiothoracic surgeons
Provide pre-screening evaluation, post-procedure and hospitalization care as well as follow-up care for thoracic surgery patients
Act as a liaison between the medical and surgical team members in the pursuit of the delivery of exceptional care
Participate in the education of nursing staff and surgical residents
Participate in quality improvement projects and process improvement activities for the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery
REQUIREMENTS
Current and valid state Registered Nurse Licensure for ARNP or Physician Assistant licensure for PA-C
Graduate Degree from and accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or accredited Physician Assistant Program
Nationally certified ARNP/PA with DEA
Proven excellence working in an interdisciplinary collaborative team environment
Effective interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and clinical expertise in the care of patients undergoing Cardiothoracic Surgical procedures
ACLS Certification
Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
Basic computer knowledge and command of basic personal computer skills
