Casualty Litigation Supervisor
Maryland Auto Insuranceis a Property & Casualty Insurance carrier and independent agency of the State of Maryland. We're located in the Locust Point neighborhood of Baltimore, featuring a variety of restaurant and shopping options in walking distance from the office. This position is ideal for candidates who desire flexible work schedules. The incumbent will be required to come into the office a minimum of two days per month. Responsibilities
A Supervisor in this role would oversee Casualty files with complex coverage issues, complex liability issues, high exposures, serious injuries, and cases in litigation. The Supervisor would be responsible for making decisions to lead to the best resolution given the merits of each case. The candidate should have excellent skills in the areas of leadership, time management, strategic, organizational, and communication. The Supervisor would report to a Claims Manager and lead a team of adjusters who resolve bodily injury claims and litigation claims.

Salary Range: $71,240 - $106,860

Education - bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Related work experience may substitute for the required education on a year for year basis.
Experience - 5 years of experience in automobile claims or work involving conducting investigations.

Employees in this classification would be responsible for these functions:
- Review claims files and provides directions to bring files to a proper resolution.
- Analyzes loss case facts and make proper recommendations.
- Approves payments and denials.
- Oversees complex claims files, initiates file discussions, tracks high exposure cases on diary to ensure proper and timely handling.
- Oversees litigation files to ensure timely and accurate handling.
- Completes Claims Quality Reviews to evaluate employee performance.
- Monitors employees' quality of work, production, customer service and competencies to ensure that claims goals and standards are being met.
- Develops, trains and mentors claim employees to achieve high levels of quality, production, and teamwork.
- Interviews applicants and makes selection recommendations.
- Evaluates work performance of assigned employees including performance management as needed.
- Analyze relevant medical data with respect to the connection between the injury claimed and loss event.
- Analyze risk, value, cost to support best decision handling.
- Initiates salary adjustments, promotions, and disciplinary action.
- Approves work and leave time of assigned employees.
- Performs other duties as required.
