Job Title: Special Procedures Technologist

Job Specialty: Cardiac Cath Lab

Job Duration: 13 Weeks

Shift: 9-Hour Days

Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours per Week

Experience: Minimum of 1 Year as a Cath Lab Tech

License: IEMA Certified or Willing to Obtain

Certifications: Registered with ARRT, CPR Certified

Must-Have:

- American Heart Association BLS Certification
- Understanding of principles and procedures of diagnostic radiology
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate patient care
- Compliance with a Drug-Free Campus policy

Job Description:

- Perform cine, digital subtraction angiography, and other specialized radiologic procedures to aid physicians in diagnosis and treatment of patients.
- Prepare examination area and position patients for procedures while operating complex radiology equipment in accordance with established techniques.
- Function as a scrub tech, obtaining and arranging sterile setups of the instrument table with supplies needed for specific procedures.
- Prepare patients by positioning them, applying sterile technique to catheter insertion sites, and explain procedures to allay apprehensions and elicit cooperation.
- Operate radiology equipment such as special X-ray tubes for biplane filming, cine angiographic equipment, high-speed serial angiography, and digital subtraction devices.
- Transfer images to the cardiac picture archival system, ensuring all images are transferred and archived in the patient's record.
- Ensure all equipment is in proper working order by performing minor repairs or notifying appropriate personnel of malfunctioning equipment.
- Observe and monitor patient's cardiovascular and pulmonary systems during catheterization procedures, alerting physicians to changes outside normal ranges.
- Attend mandatory department and educational meetings to support continuous quality improvement efforts.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with department personnel and assist in preparing rooms between patients by cleaning and restocking.

Additional Information:

- Local candidates are accepted and are required to complete orientation hours.
