- The CRNA serves as a vital member of the Anesthesiology Care Team.
- Under the supervision of the operating surgeon, the CRNA administers general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care for elective surgical procedures.
- The CRNA evaluates patients preoperatively and, in consultation with the supervising physician, formulates and carries out an anesthesia care plan including monitoring and recording patient reaction to anesthesia and modifying the anesthetic plan accordingly.
- Safely transports patients to and from an anesthetizing location and ensures appropriate care during the postoperative period.
- This is a full-time day position, there are no call, night, or weekend shifts associated with this position.
- While under the medical direction of a physician, makes the initial approach to a patient to obtain a preliminary pre-anesthetic health history, perform an appropriate pre-anesthetic physical examination and record pertinent data in an organized and legible manner for review by a physician; define the patient's current physical status as it relates to the planned anesthetic.
- Establishes noninvasive and invasive routine monitoring modalities.
- Assists in the application and interpretation of advanced monitoring techniques such as pulmonary artery catheterization, electroencephalographic spectral analysis, echocardiography and evoked potentials.
- Assists in inducing, maintaining and altering anesthesia levels, administers adjunctive treatment and provides continuity of anesthetic care into and during the postoperative recovery period.
- Assists in the use of advanced life support techniques such as high frequency ventilation and intra-arterial cardiovascular assist devices.
- Assists in making post-anesthesia patient rounds by recording patient progress notes, compiling and recording case summaries and by transcribing standing and specific orders.
- Performs evaluation and treatment procedures essential to responding to life-threatening situations, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation based on established protocols (basic life support, advanced cardiac life support, and pediatric advanced life support).
- Assists in inpatient pain consultations and other settings, as appropriate.
- Troubleshooting and use of patient monitors.
- Assists in the clinical instruction of others as assigned.
- Employs monitoring of patients which meets or exceeds current department standard of care requirements.
- Attends monthly department meetings and actively participates in decisions pertaining to efficiency of the department.
Qualifications:
- Required Education Board Certified Nurse Anesthetis
- Master's degree or equivalent post baccalaureate training in Anesthesia.
- One year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic Life Support for Provider Certification/CPR.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in the State of Colorado or a participating compact state.
- Board Certified Nurse Anesthetist License.
- All Certifications and Licenses required for this job must be kept current as a condition of continued employment
- Performs or assists in conducting diagnostic laboratory and related studies as appropriate, such as drawing arterial and venous blood samples.
- Meets recertification guidelines and renewal of CRNA license every two (2) years.
- Maintains staff privileges/complies with credentialing
- Answers all official letters of inquiry from Healthcare or departmental QRI Committees.
- Pursues and attains more than minimum CME credits.
- Actively participates in in-service education.
- Attends departmental teaching and M&M conferences. Certified in ACLS.
