Mount Sinai South Nassau is currently seeking a Chair of Psychiatry!

The Chair will work to ensure that mental health services are developed and managed in accordance with MSSNs mission, strategic direction and business position. The Chair of Psychiatry will direct activities of the mental health staff and ensure that mental health services are delivered in accordance with Mount Sinai South Nassaus policies and procedures, New York State regulations and guidelines, funder guidelines, and established best practices in mental health.

Responsibilities:


Responsibilities include overseeing clinician recruitment, supervision of all clinical care, as well as leading quality improvement. Additional responsibilities include regulatory preparedness, and adherence to the standards of various certifying agencies as well as working with hospital and health system leadership to optimize and improve care for all patients in behavioral health.

Duties:


Function as the leader of the Department of Psychiatry at South Nassau


Develops, implements, and monitors clinical programs and services for the Departmentof Psychiatry, take steps to improve patient care outcomes/services


Coordinates and integrates inter and intra departmental activities to improve the coordination of care and services and takes steps to improve the continuity of care throughout the continuum


Responsible for the overall supervision of all clinical activity within the Department ofpsychiatry


Monitors the professional competence of the medical staff within the Department of Psychiatry providing care for patients and takes appropriate action when indicated


Communicates clearly with Departmental leadership, faculty and staff to outline roles, responsibilities, and expectations and conduct annual performance reviews


Ensuring Compliance with all regulatory (JC, CMS, OMH, DOH) requirements and standards at all times


Development and execution of Performance Improvement initiatives within the Department


Responsible for fiscal viability of the clinical services in the department including management of budget, expenses and revenue.


Ensure effective management and resolution of department specific patient complaints, emergency situations and critical events


Manage optimal training experience for trainees in the department

Accreditation:


Responsible for maintaining the accreditation, regulatory and licensing standards related to the delivery of safe and effective patient care including but not limited to OMH, OASAS, The Joint Commission and the Department of Health.


Position Qualifications:


MD Degree with Board Certification in Child/Adolescent Psychiatry or Psychiatry


Medical Degree from an Accredited University


New York Medical License

Compensation range from 300K to 400K(not including bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits)

Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialties, historical productivity, historical collections, and hospital/community need. As such, an actual salary may fall closer to one or the other end of the range, and in certain circumstances, may wind up being outside of the listed salary range. The salary range listed is for full-time employment and does not include bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits.
