Job Summary and Scope of Responsibility: Lead, direct, manage and control the staff and activities of the Bank's credit administration division, including policies and procedures, compliance, risk management, and the overall quality of the loan portfolio.

- Plan, organize, direct and control the staff, functions and work product of credit administration units to achieve compliance with all laws and regulations.
- Review and approve credit requests up to lending authority.
- Monitor the quality of the Bank's loan portfolio. Develop, implement, direct and evaluate portfolio management activities to ensure that underwriting, risk grading, delinquency management, collateral control and other credit management activities meet regulatory and policy requirements. Maintain quality loan portfolio within defined delinquency, percentage of non-performing loans and criticized / classified asset parameters. Responsible for the quality and profitability of the Bank's total loan portfolio.
- Develop, implement and routinely evaluate the effectiveness of lending strategies, policies and procedures to ensure they align with Bank objectives and meet regulatory policies and guidelines. Develop and maintain lending policies and procedures consistent with those of other quality financial institutions and considered standard by regulatory agencies.
- Recommend and collaborate with Bank directors and executive management to develop, implement and evaluate short and long-term strategic planning. Direct the development, implementation and evaluation of department/individual goals and action plans to support strategic initiatives.
- Direct the identification and management of delinquent loans and problem assets. Ensure appropriate risk grading, loan loss reserves and other required actions are considered and implemented. Supervise the collection of non-performing and charged off loans. Work closely with legal counsel to resolve litigation. Manage REO properties and Special Assets Department.
- Monitor regulatory and industry environments for new requirements, recommendations and/or trends. Provide timely updates to executive officers and Board of Directors. Analyze, prepare reports and communicate to Executive Management and the Board of Directors on all credit related topics.
- Schedule and support the activities of the Director's Loan Committee.
- Responsible for credit training of all line lending personnel and credit administration staff. Recommend credit authority for each lending officer. Responsible for on-going training in compliance, regulatory, financial skills, analytical skills, etc. as related to the credit function and servicing of business customers.
- Head interface with regulators and accounting firm on all credit exams.
Minimum Qualifications to Perform Essential Functions
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Comprehensive understanding of credit risk management concepts and practices.
- Strong financial analytical and underwriting skills.
- Extensive supervisory and managerial experience.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
- Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to define problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Professional business writing skills.
- Professional demeanor, inter-personal and verbal communication skills.
- Computer proficiency, including internet browsers and Microsoft Office Suite products.
- Proficiency at speaking, reading and writing English.
Experience and/or Education:
- BS, BA, or BBA degree, or equivalent experience
- Fifteen years of experience in credit administration, commercial and consumer lending.
- MBA degree or post-undergraduate degree, preferred.
- Fifteen years of experience leading the credit administration function of a commercial bank, preferred.
