Position Overview:The Chief Curator is responsible for the overall development of the Museum's curatorial programs; the coordination of the museum's exhibitions, research, publications, acquisitions, and donor contacts related to PAMM's exhibitions and permanent collection; and the conceptualization of curatorial integrated programs to enrich and expand cultural opportunities for the museum's diverse audiences.
The Chief Curator is a visible and accessible role expected to build strong relationships with their team, the trustees, artists in the community, and campus stakeholders.
The Chief Curator delegates curatorial and administrative duties to respective staff, as appropriate. The Chief Curator leads the collegial process by which the curatorial staff research, develop and realize the annual exhibition schedule programs in support of the Museum's mission. The Chief Curator collaborates closely with Collection and Exhibition Support staff, as well as outside curators and artists, to assure professional, efficient, and quality presentation of all designated exhibitions.

Requirements
Required Degree: Bachelor's Degree/4-Year Degree
Qualifications:
- Applied knowledge of professional museum principles, practices and procedures
- Knowledge of research tools and methodology
- Self-directed and motivated
- Very flexible and helpful; occasional evening and weekend hours required
- Must have mastery of English language; both written and verbal
- Work Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years' management-level museum experience required
- Minimum of 10 years progressively applied curatorial experience
- Demonstrated experience managing substantial department, project and program
- Ability to work with artists, collectors, and donors
- Ability to communicate to the media and on-camera interviews
- Ability to work within a diverse cultural community
- Diplomatic skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
- Master's degree in art history or related field

Physical Demands:
- Walk, bend, lift (up to 25 pounds) files, office supplies an electronic equipment.
- Finger dexterity to pick up paper and use computer keyboard.
- Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
- Ability to hear in normal tones including telephone and face-to-face conversation.
