We have an exciting opportunity for a Chief Engineer for Gateway Lab Operations GRAIL to join our JETS II contract team at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX.
If selected you will:
- The Chief Engineer will be the expert supporting the GRAIL (Gateway Ready Avionics Integration Lab),a critical testing facility of the Gateway Program which will return to the Moon
- Chief expertise on facility and emulator design fidelity
- Chief expertise on development and integration of high-fidelity avionic hardware and software integration of the lab
- Support engineering flight project schedule, procurement documentation, budget and system requirements documents
- Review integrated analysis of the GRAIL system, hardware and software in relation to other Gateway Systems and the operational environment
- Participate and contribute to system requirements reviews, preliminary design reviews and critical design reviews
- Review system level architecture trade studies and analyses that will influence the overall facility design and performance to inform decision making
- Work with team members and leads to identify risks, develop risk statements, and plan risk responses with mitigation strategies
- Work and present lab fidelity to customers and boards/panels
- Perform other duties as required
- Must have good communication and organizational skills and the ability to work in a team environment
Qualifications:

- Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering and normally possess 5-10 years of related experience. License and certification may be required.
- On location position / situational telework only
- Past experience in development and integration of a high-fidelity integration lab
- Understanding of electrical, mechanical and power systems
- Able to organize and prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision
- Experience working in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- BS degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering school
- Past experience with NASA
- Past experience with Avionics is a plus
