Description:

Copper River Infrastructure Services is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Engineer to oversee and coordinate the workers who maintain and repair electrical, plumbing, ventilation, refrigeration, and other building systems within the property.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, as well as extensive knowledge of building automation systems (BAS). The Chief Engineer will lead a team of skilled technicians, manage vendor relationships, and ensure the building's infrastructure is operating at peak performance.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Work with the Facilities Manager and Museum team to evaluate needs for all work requests-both scheduled and unscheduled-as well as any special projects that arise or affect the museum MEP.
  • Coordinate and follow up on preventative maintenance on refrigeration units, plumbing, electrical, overhead doors, and any other mechanical systems, while overseeing all building systems including fire/life safety, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical issues; must remain current with latest HVAC technology trends.
  • Monitors all equipment associated within the Facility through the use of the Building Automation System (BAS)
  • Coordinate repairs by both in-house staff and vendors/subcontractors with the government.
  • Ensure scheduling of subcontracted Building Engineers, at the museum, meet or exceed the client requirements.
  • Participate in the monthly operational testing of the emergency generators.
  • Participate in the weekly operational testing of the fire pumps.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and meet project deadlines
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously and prioritize work, as required
  • Demonstrate advanced working knowledge of building engineering and all associated systems
  • Ability to read, review, and understand blueprints and building drawings.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Shall have an availability to work flexible hours as required in response to emergency
  • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, CMMS and project tracking software
  • Shall be available for emergency contact by phone twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week, 365 days a year
  • Attend weekly safety meetings. Effectively communicate topics to second and third shifts.
  • Follow and implement the corporate and site-specific Lock Out Tag Out policies and procedures.
  • Obtain OSHA 30 General Industry Safety and Health certification.
  • Coordinate and assist in repairs involving basic electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
  • Participate and coordinate annual scheduling and execution of the MEP, Fire and Life Safety, and Elevator inspections as directed by the Facility Manager, and Copper River Leadership, and Government Clients. Responsible for 100% Compliance at his/her site.
  • Utility Management such as tracking use, consumption, cost, reporting, comparison models, sub-metering, budgeting, variances as directed by Management and/or Leadership.
  • Conduct regular Safety inspections with subcontractors of building systems and equipment; identify and resolve issues.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain an effective preventive and predictive maintenance program for task scheduling, routines, and performance. Program to include procedures for annual, semi-annual, quarterly, monthly and other scheduled maintenance as provided by the manufacturer's recommendations and/or industry best practices.
  • Develop and maintain effective building-specific maintenance and safety procedure manuals.
  • Coordinate development of and/or maintain an Operations Document Library, including but not limited to construction plans, structural plans, as-built drawings, MEP schedules, line diagrams and schematics, equipment and operation manuals, start up and commissioning documents, and equipment warranties
  • Formulate and conduct building-related systems and equipment training
  • Maintain ongoing communication with Facility Manager, Project Managers, clients, and vendors
  • Develop specifications and assist in solicitation, administration, execution, and performance of maintenance/ repair service contracts
  • May assist in solicitation and acquisition of new management contracts and projects


Essential Job Requirements:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor degree or higher in mechanical or electrical engineering Preferred
  • Required Knowledge/Experience
    • 8-10 years as a Chief Mechanical Engineer or similar experience
  • Preferred Knowledge/Experience
    • OSHA 30
    • Strong analytical skills and proven organizational ability and attention to detail is a must
    • Must be a self-starter, proactive, flexible, and deadline-focused
    • Must demonstrate competency in other disciplines such as HVAC, plumbing and/or electrical through a combination of education, professional registration and experience.
    • An industry certification from the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) CFM, FMP and /or SFP, Building Owners and Managers (BOMI), and/or Association for Facilities Engineering (AFE) are highly desirable.
    • Project Management Professional (PMP)
    • Air conditioning and Heat pump Professional/ Certification
    • Certified Maintenance Manager (CMM)


  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to lift 20-50 pounds and work in confined spaces
  • Other Responsibilities:
    • Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of the department/contract as assigned


Position Pay Range

$80,000-$120,000 USD
