Job Summary
The Chief of Alternative Schools drives a transformative vision for county alternative schools, ensuring rapid growth and continuous improvement. Focused on strategic leadership and program oversight, the Chief identifies unmet needs and develops innovative programming to increase graduation rates for expelled, system-involved, and out-of-school youth in COE's court and community schools. Responsible for planning, directing, and developing ACOE's Schools Division, the Chief supervises and coaches site and team leaders, strengthens staff capacity for effective alternative ed teaching and learning, aligns resources and support services, and ensures accountability, compliance, and program effectiveness. This role demands deep expertise in Education Code and best practices for alternative schools to expand opportunities and address systemic inequities affecting student success. Serves as a member of the Superintendent's Senior Leadership Team and represents the agency and our students across diverse partnerships.
