Your Impact
The Chief of Staff (CoS) is a senior staff position with responsibility for working directly with the CEO and the Executive Team to develop and implement the strategic direction of the organization. The CoS will increase collaboration and accountability across departments, facilitate strategic thinking, and develop management systems and procedures. The CoS will help the CEO manage the internal operations of the organization, including departmental collaboration, tracking key performance indicators for the organization's impact and progress, problem solving any challenges that may arise and maintaining consistency of communication. The CoS provides support at every level, serves as a trusted advisor and resource, and fosters communication and knowledge sharing throughout the organization. The CoS is also the main liaison to the Board of Directors and acts as the CEO's representative, when needed.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
Physical Demands
This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and stand or bend as necessary. Must be able to travel within HGSF's service area.

Primary Responsibilities
Direct Support CEO (40%)
- Support the CEO in strategic and operational functions:
- Elevate key issues to the CEO's attention and manage their priorities and needs.
- Act as a thought partner and trusted counsel to the CEO.
- Plan and organize leadership meetings to align with the CEO's priorities.
- Serve as the CEO's liaison or representative in internal and external meetings.
- Ensure the CEO and Executive Team's timely involvement in critical project and decision-making processes and identify key moments where the CEO's input and authority are essential.
- Collaborate with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team to drive strategic priorities by identifying key focus areas and developing metrics for success.
- Regularly evaluate and report on progress to ensure alignment with HGSF's goals.
- Manage the Office of the CEO, oversee administrative functions, including hiring and onboarding for the CEO's leadership team.
Board Liaison (30%)
- Support the Board of Directors in collaboration with the CEO:
- Act as the primary liaison and relationship manager for the Board.
- Manage Board Development and Governance.
- Streamline communication between the Board and the organization.
- Prepare and distribute Board meeting agendas, minutes, and supporting documents and manage Board-related logistics, including scheduling meetings and organizing Board retreats.
Special Project Management (25%)
- Project manage the organization's strategic plan:
- Lead the development and implementation of the strategic plan in collaboration with the CEO, Board of Directors, and Executive Leadership Team.
- Monitor progress, adjust plans as needed, and report on outcomes.
- Identify, plan, and manage high-priority projects that align with HGSF's mission and strategic goals.
- Address project issues and roadblocks that arise during project implementation and keep projects on track and aligned with strategic goals.
Other Duties as Assigned (5%)
- Mentor and support the professional development of staff members across the organization.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Assists with Leadership development.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years' experience in non-profit management supporting CEO and working with Executive Leadership team in a direct support or advisory role.
- Ability to foster an inclusive work environment and promote a culture of equity within the organization.
- Proven track record of effective Board engagement and management, including facilitating Board development and supporting Board members in their governance roles.
- Proven ability to handle sensitive information with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality.
- Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Must be able to pass background check
