Summary of Duties: The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the company, particularly in the manufacturing environment. This role is integral to ensuring operational efficiency, profitability, and the achievement of long-term business objectives. The COO will oversee the management of manufacturing processes, of improvements to productivity, will ensure adherence to industry standards, and will assist in development of strategies to streamline operations while maintaining high-quality output.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of department heads in the manufacturing and operations divisions.
  • Establish a culture of accountability, collaboration, and safety across all operational teams.
  • Promote employee development through training programs, performance evaluations, and career advancement opportunities.
  • Develop and execute operational strategies to achieve business goals and improve efficiency.
  • Provide operational oversight for the day-to-day manufacturing processes, ensuring production targets and deadlines are met.
  • Work with the executive team to implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to develop and execute the company's strategic plan.
  • Align operational goals with the company's overall vision and growth strategy.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production workflows and reduce waste.
  • Lead initiatives for process automation, technology integration, and innovation within manufacturing operations.
  • Work with CFO to develop and manage operational budgets, ensuring cost efficiency while meeting production targets.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental laws.
  • Oversee implementation of quality control systems to ensure the production of high-quality products.
  • Oversee the supply chain, inventory management, and distribution processes to ensure the timely delivery of products.
  • Work with department leadership to optimize procurement processes to minimize lead times and improve supply chain efficiency.
  • Work with executive team to develop contingency plans for supply chain disruptions or operational challenges.
  • Identify operational risks and implement strategies to mitigate potential issues.
  • Oversee the resolution of manufacturing challenges, including production delays, equipment breakdowns, or workforce concerns.
  • Continuously monitor and improve health and safety practices within the manufacturing environment.

Minimum Job Requirements (but not limited to):
  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field and a minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role (preferably at the executive level). Other combinations of education and experience may be evaluated.
  • Proven experience in process improvement, lean manufacturing, or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing technologies, supply chain management, and production planning.
  • Experience managing large teams and cross-functional departments.
  • Strong leadership and management abilities and experience in financial management and/or budgeting.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • In-depth understanding of regulatory and quality standards in manufacturing.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in using manufacturing software, ERP systems, and data analytics tools.
  • Occasional travel to manufacturing facilities or supplier sites may be required.
  • Standard working hours, but availability during off-hours or weekends may be necessary depending on business needs.
