The Opportunity

The Chief People Officer (CPO) is a key member of the Chief executive leadership team, responsible for developing and executing human resource strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the credit union. This includes areas such as talent management, change management, organizational and performance management, training and development, and compensation. The CPO provides strategic leadership by articulating HR needs and plans to the executive management team and the board of directors.

The CPO will work closely with the executive team to be a steward of cultural and operational excellence through a proactive and consistent approach to people and the organization. They will collaborate with the Chief executive team and business leaders on talent and leadership, including enhancing employee engagement, identifying and recruiting the best talent, fostering a diverse and inclusive environment, and driving employer brand as a great place to work.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute HR strategies aligned with business goals to drive growth, employee satisfaction, and workforce planning.
  • Oversee merger integration efforts with the goal of building a single, cohesive, Keesler Federal culture. Transition all HR programs and benefits.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and leadership team, providing HR insights, solutions, and guidance on strategic initiatives.
  • Lead talent acquisition efforts to attract top-tier talent and implement retention strategies to reduce turnover and drive engagement.
  • Promote an inclusive culture that reflects the company's values, enhances employee well-being, and fosters a positive work environment.
  • Oversee employee relations, conflict resolution, and engagement programs to ensure a respectful, productive, and motivated workforce.
  • Implement learning and development initiatives, including leadership development, compliance training, and professional growth opportunities.
  • Manage competitive compensation and benefits programs aligned with industry benchmarks and employee needs.
  • Ensure HR compliance with federal, state, and local laws while mitigating organizational risk and addressing legal issues.
  • Optimize HR operations and systems for efficiency, scalability, and a seamless employee experience.
  • Leverage HR technology and metrics to drive data-driven decisions, monitor performance, and support organizational goals.
  • Measure, analyze, and report on the effectiveness of HR services and people strategy initiatives with key performance indicators to identify opportunities for continuous improvement based on these metrics.

Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 15 yrs working experience as HR executive or other HR leadership role.
  • Demonstrate Keesler Federal values of Approachability, Authenticity, Commitment and Empathy
  • People-oriented and results-driven.
  • Demonstrable experience with human resources metrics.
  • Knowledge of HR systems and databases.
  • Ability to architect strategy along with leadership skills.
  • Excellent active listening, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company.
  • In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices.
  • Degree in Human Resources or related field.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience leading people strategy for financial services institutions
  • Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR).
