JOB GOAL: As part of the Central Office administrative team, the Chief Student Services Officer is generally responsible for planning, managing and evaluating programs of Special Education, attendance and registration, guidance, health services, psychological services, speech services, homebound instruction and social services. The Chief Student Services Officer is a member of the Superintendent's Cabinet and works in concert with other Central Office and building administrators to ensure that annual District Goals are met.

CERTIFICATION & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Valid State of Connecticut teaching certificate with Intermediate Administrator and Supervisor (092) endorsement plus cross-endorsement in Comprehensive Special Education or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a student services or special education administrative position.
  • A thorough knowledge of:
    • The practices, methods, and techniques used in the administration and supervision of all facets of student support services.
    • Federal, State, and local laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances related to the areas of responsibility for student services.
    • Section 504 requirements.
  • Broad, successful teaching and administrative experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school officials, students, parents, support staff, associates, external organizations, agencies and companies

SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12-month position; Salary dependent on skill set, level of experience and educational level.
