PRIMARY FUNCTION: The job of Chief Student Services Officer is done for the purpose/s of managing the overall operation of assigned programs and services; providing information and serving as a resource to others; achieving defined objectives by planning, evaluating, developing, implementing and maintaining services in compliance with established guidelines; and serving as an integral member of the leadership team.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Educational Level:
Master's Degree in Education or job-related field
2. Certification/License:
Education Leadership Certificate, L5 or higher; Valid Driver's License
3. Experience:
School Principal required, Special Education experience preferred.
4. Physical Activities:

5. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform advanced math; review and interpret highly technical information, write technical materials, and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: pertinent codes, policies, regulations and/or laws; current trends and practices in assigned area; education code; principles of employee development and management; project development, goal attainment and time management; principles of conflict resolution.
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, highly complex, technical tasks with a need to routinely upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including utilizing pertinent software applications; planning and managing multiple projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records; and training, developing and supervising staff.

Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing a variety of complex processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Advises the Superintendent on policy matters in need of revision in accordance with new legislation or court decisions for the purpose of addressing the operational needs and educational responsibilities of the district. Title IX Coordinator complaints against students. Compiles data from a wide variety of internal and external sources for the purpose of analyzing issues, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, and/or monitoring program components. Coordinator of the Realizing Educational Achievement Can Happen (REACH) Scholarship program and the 180 Degree Student of the Year program. Conducts re-entry interviews with students and parents for the purpose of being reinstated after long-term suspension or incarceration. Consults with students, teachers, administrators, parents, and legal counsel for the Board for the purpose of reviewing the new or revised policy. Coordinates with the Director of Athletics for the purpose of establishing the eligibility of students to participate in athletics, Title IX compliance and GHSA compliance. Coordinates with the Director of Guidance Services for the purpose of providing a viable counseling/guidance program, a School Social Work Department that works to improve student achievement, a Safe & Drug Free Program that helps to provide a learning environment that is conducive to learning, and a McKinney-Vento program that address the needs of students who are experiencing homelessness. Coordinates with the Executive Director of Program for Exceptional Students (PES) for the purpose of providing a free and appropriate education for children with disabilities, FTE, and school psychologists. Coordinates with the Senior Director of Student Services for the purpose of enrolling students into our system, student assignment parameters, FTE reporting, Impact Aid reporting, providing Hospital / Homebound instruction, and maintaining an accurate student data base. Also, for the oversight of Foster Care, Marshall Success Center, Catapult, and CRDC. Coordinates with the Director of Prevention and Intervention Practices for the purpose of establishing, monitoring, and support to schools for PBIS/MTSS, School-Based Mental Health and School-Based Health Centers, Dyslexia Bill, and Section 504. Coordinates with the Director of the Woodall / GNETS for the purpose of providing a free and appropriate education for students who meet their entrance requirements. Develops a wide variety of documents and presentation materials, independently and/or through delegation to other personnel (e.g. plans, proposals, policies, budgets, grant opportunities, procedures, forms, surveys, etc.) for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services and/or programs for the Superintendent's review and action. Keeps abreast of court decisions that affect Board policy and administrative rules for the purpose of ensuring the effective functioning of the work unit. Organizes and sits on all Tribunals pertaining to students who have been referred to the Tribunal for the purpose of ensuring compliance with MCSD policies and procedures. Oversees assigned departmental responsibilities (e.g. agency policies and procedures, state & federal regulations, etc.) for the purpose of achieving outcomes in relation to organizational objectives, and ensuring compliance to legal requirements. Participates in a wide variety of meetings, workshops and seminars (e.g. conducts professional development classes, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions. Processes all appeals for reassignment of students for the purpose of gathering and conveying accurate information. Serves as a liaison staff member for the purpose of parent and student grievances. Studies all State board policies and executive procedures for the purpose of making certain that local policies do not conflict. Supervises budget preparation with the departments for the purpose of ensuring that all allocations and expenses are within operational budget. Supports the Superintendent, Board, and department administrators (e.g. Student Handbook and Code of Conduct, etc.) for the purpose of developing and implementing services and programs and achieving operational goals. Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
