Essential Duties

• Lead and coordinate training programs for public defenders.
• Mentor public defenders in the trial rooms of the Courts of Common pleas.
• Manage administrative staff.
• Supervise and collaborate with technical team and outside service providers to implement operational initiatives and direct technical upgrades
• Perform other duties, tasks and special projects, as required.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university.
• Member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association.
• License to practice law in Pennsylvania.
• Substantial prior experience as a public defender;
• Supervisory experience.
• Prior experience managing teams and training attorneys.
• Substantial trial experience highly valued.
• Demonstrable ability to work with case management software and criminal database systems such as AOPC;
  collaborative team member.
• Excellent skills as a criminal defense lawyer
• Ability to work independently.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Accurate and detail-oriented.
• Ability to establish priorities and multi-task.
• Working knowledge of the law (statutes, court cases, rules, and regulations).
• Working knowledge of Pennsylvania Rules of Civil, Criminal and Appellate Procedures.
• Working knowledge of Rules of Professional Conduct for Attorneys.
• A valid driver's license is required for this position.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, walk, stand, drive a vehicle to and from different locations, climb stairs, and talk or hear. Occasionally, the employee will need to bend, twist or rotate at the waist while working; and reach above shoulder height. On rare occasions, the employee will need to kneel, stoop, crouch or squat; lift or carry items; and taste or smell.
