Under the supervision of the Director of Children & Youth Services, the Childcare Center Director is responsible for the administration, monitoring and supervision of the childcare program and all personnel. The Childcare Center Director is responsible for the safety of the children, staff and all persons at the center. The Childcare Center Director directly supervises the Lead Teachers, Teachers, and Substitutes.

WORK PERFORMED

Ensure compliance with childcare guidelines and regulations set forth by the MSDE Office of Childcare Administration
  • Maintain, revise, and ensure completion of state mandated forms and documentation
  • Ensure monthly emergency drills and compliance with emergency procedures
  • Coordinate and comply with annual inspection and update required annual licensing forms

  • Ensure compliance with funding agencies
  • Maintain and ensure completion of mandated forms, reports and documentation
  • Assure quarterly satisfaction surveys are given to families. Send completed surveys to The Arc Quality Assurance Director
  • Assist in billing process of funding agencies and assure its timely completion
  • Tabulate monthly and annual attendance and enrollment figures
  • Ensure compliance with outcome measurements including providing training to childcare providers and staff

  • Direct and monitor educational program
  • Monitor development and implementation of the educational curriculum
  • Coordinate annual children's parent-teacher conferences
  • Observe classroom activities to ensure staff's adherence to program philosophy, policies and goals are being followed
  • Purchase supplies needed for the educational program and nutritional program
  • Monitor and maintain appropriate staff to student ratios and provide classroom support as needed
  • Assist in planning and participate in staff in-service training
  • Conduct routine staff meetings
  • Recruit, hire, train and evaluate childcare employees
  • Serve as a resource for staff

  • Assist Family Coordinator for placement of children entering and exiting the program, and children transitioning between classrooms within the program
  • Interview families of new students prior to admission
  • Explain program objectives and policies to potential new families
  • Maintain, update and review the referral/waiting list book
  • Arrange second visits with families, nurse and classroom teacher
  • Assure completion of all required intake paperwork
  • Confer with classroom teachers in transition plans for children moving form one classroom to another within the program

  • Assist Division Director in conducting childcare business operations
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual program budget
  • Monitor center budget in collaboration with the Director of C & Y Services
  • Assist in reconciling student accounts.
  • Complete bi-weekly payroll forms and ensure appropriate use of leave time
  • Participate in agency strategic plan goals and outcomes and adhere to all agency's policies/procedures
  • Maintain inclusive classrooms within the program
  • Oversee program enrollment to ensure budgeted numbers are met
  • Coordinate, meet and support community partnerships within the program
  • Attend one agency membership meeting yearly
  • Meet with other program administrators within the agency to review and improve services and facilitate transition of children between agency programs

  • Oversee the Medical component of the program
  • Keep current on medical status of all children
  • Attend nursing meetings
  • Assure teacher and nurse collaboration
  • Supervise Nurse Administrator

  • Assist Division Director in maintaining internal controls
  • In collaboration with Division Director, develop and implement center program and policies
  • Establish and maintain collaboration with on-site community partners
  • Establish, implement and maintain procedures for building cleanliness or other duties as deemed necessary
  • Establish and maintain procedures for personnel and building security, including HIPAA compliance
  • Coordinate building safety and security, including supervising emergency evacuations, managing emergency supplies and procedures

  • Maintain liaison with educational and childcare communities:
  • Coordinate compliance with external accreditation organization
  • Prepare and maintain appropriate documentation for accreditation, MDExcels and staff credentialing

  • In collaboration with all KFICCC staff, be accessible and attentive to the needs of families:
  • Work with families to provide support and information
  • Provide information and support to staff on issues regarding families
  • Act as a resource to parents for behavior and developmental concerns
  • Address parent concerns and schedule parent meetings as needed
  • Support agency and center fundraisers by planning and attending center-based events and supporting agency events
  • Serve as facilitator for the KFICCC parent advisory committee (PAC)

  • Participate in appropriate internal and external training programs, conferences, courses, workshops or other staff development opportunities for professional growth.

    Qualifications
    • Masters' degree in a relevant field to include 90 hour and 45-hour childcare course or equivalent plus four years of relevant professional experience; or bachelor's degree in relevant field to include 90 hour and 45-hour childcare course or equivalent plus six years of relevant professional experience. Three years of experience must be at a supervisory level.
    • Meet childcare regulations; to include:
  • 2 years of experience working with preschoolers in an approved setting (licensed child care center, nursery school, church operated school, recreation and parks program, registered family child care home or similar setting), or
  • If approved or certified to teach, 1 year of experience working with preschoolers in a approved setting
    • Must be Director qualified for a licensed MSDE Childcare Center.


    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
    • Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds.
    • Must be able to withstand prolonged periods of standing, frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pushing and pulling.

    Pay Range - $79,816 - $83,856 annual depending on education and experience. This is a full time Exempt position.
