The hiring range for this position is $75,729 - $84,695. The full range for this position is $75,729 - $105,934.
The Social Worker of Ongoing Child Protection/Welfare works to protect the children of Kandiyohi County by providing on-going intensive child protection/welfare case management services to families. The social worker assesses the potential or actual risk level of maltreatment to children, prevents out-of-home placement of children, if possible, and makes efforts to reunify children with their families if out of home placement is deemed necessary. If reunification is not possible, the social worker determines the best permanent option for the children. Work is performed while maintaining confidentiality and pursuant to all applicable state statutes.

Bachelors Degree in Social Work or closely related field requested. Prior child protection job experience and/or bilingual preferred.

Job Duties
- Case Management Services-Child Protection Social Workers provide direct social work services to families in which abuse or neglect has been reported in order to carry out the statutory mandate to protect children from further harm, and safeguard and enhance the welfare of abused/neglected children
- Providing child welfare case management to extended foster care children; minor parents; truant youth and families seeking voluntary services
- Developing care and case plans that meet the needs of and ensure safety and stability for clients and families
- Partnering with social workers, departmental staff, collateral resources, and others to develop work agreements and outcome-focused relationships to assist clients/families in achieving their goals
- Makes determination of proper placements of children in their home or in out of home placements
- Completes and maintains required documentation for casework
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing including phone skills to obtain accurate data from reports, and writing skills to record the information clearly and concisely
- Utilizing Signs of Safety tools to develop trajectories, safety plans, safety networks, etc.
- Attend court, testify at court, and write reports for court
