ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
- Diagnosis and Treatment: Evaluate and diagnose psychiatric disorders in children and adolescents. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including medication management and psychotherapy. Follows best practice on utilization of INSPECT and prescribes in alignment with best practices.
- Patient Care: Provide comprehensive psychiatric care, including conducting thorough assessments, prescribing medications, and monitoring treatment progress. Address acute and chronic mental health issues.
- Family Support: Work closely with families to provide education and support. Involve parents and caregivers in the treatment process to enhance outcomes.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, social workers, pediatricians, and educators, to provide coordinated care. Participate in case conferences and treatment planning meetings.
- Crisis Intervention: Provide crisis intervention and management for children and adolescents experiencing severe psychiatric symptoms. Develop and implement safety plans as needed.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including patient assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes. Ensure compliance with confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Education and Training: Provide education and training to medical students, residents, and other healthcare professionals on child and adolescent psychiatry topics. Stay current with developments in the field through continuing education.
Minimum Qualifications
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school.
- Board certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
- Current, unrestricted medical license in Indiana.
- Possess all applicable licenses for prescribing medications and controlled substances, (DEA, CSR).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in child and adolescent psychiatry is preferred.
- Strong clinical skills in diagnosing and treating psychiatric disorders in children and adolescents.
- Competence in treating co-occurring disorders
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to supervise and collaborate with APRNs and interdisciplinary staff.
- Ability to build rapport with young patients and their families.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
- Knowledge of current psychiatric medications and therapies.
