Job Description
We are looking for A-players. Folks who have a track record of success and a long-list of people who would rave about their abilities and performance. This role will present many interesting challenges, and we are determined to find to person who will have the fortitude and acumen to win.
The ideal candidate will be a civil design engineer with a minimum of 6 to 10 years of experience to serve as a Discipline Lead for civil design projects and support a growing regional solid waste business practice. It is preferred for this candidate to have experience with coal ash and Coal Combustion Residual (CCR) landfills while maintaining pursuits of traditional landfill/solid waste facilities. Your work will primarily be on large (over $250K) projects.
Responsibilities
The individual would lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, geologists and scientists on civil design projects, with an emphasis on the investigation, engineering design, and permitting of CCR landfills, industrial landfills, municipal solid waste (MSW) landfills and renewable energy projects. In addition this individual will work on projects involving characterization and closure of CCR management facilities (i.e. ash ponds).

- Leading the design and construction of landfill liner systems, cover systems, and related structures
- Preparation of permits and construction documents
- Interaction with regulatory agencies
- Primary Client point of contact for civil design projects
Qualifications
Role Requirements
- A strong background in Civil Engineering with a focus on geotechnical engineering and geosynthetics
- Experience with site development and water resources engineering
- Experience interacting with permitting agencies and can demonstrate examples of previous success navigating ever changing regulations.
- Experience with CCR Landfills and CCR management by both dry and wet means.
- Knowledge of Hydraulics/Hydrology modeling software
- Experience in the preparation and QA/QC of construction documents, technical specifications, and opinions of probable construction costs.
- Strong knowledge of the design of leachate management facilities, piping and pumping systems, geosynthetics design, and seismic and slope stability analysis
Qualifications:
- BS and/or MS Civil Engineering required
- PE in North Carolina and South Carolina required
- 6+ years of civil design and/or solid waste experience preferred
- Experience with NC and SC solid waste regulations preferred
