Job Title: Civil Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a California licensed Civil Engineer with over 10 years of experience in land development. The ideal candidate will have expertise in design, project management, and business development, and will lead our alternative fuels civil engineering team. This role requires a self-starter who can manage heavy production, workload scheduling, and coordination with Project Managers on fast-paced projects. Experience with site civil design, permitting, and software applications such as hydrology modeling programs, storm drainage programs, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D is essential.
Responsibilities
  • Design Engineering: Develop standard or special designs, plans, specifications, and specific job procedures for projects. Complete LID, WQMP, Hydrology Reports, Cost Estimates, and NOI plans and applications. Prepare design calculations; check and review plans, drawings, specifications, and reports. Design Conceptual, Preliminary, and Construction Document level Site Plans. Manage design coordination with outside consultants and perform QA/QC on all documents within the civil engineering team.
  • Project Management: Plan, layout, and direct the work of a group of engineers on various problems. Schedule, coordinate, and attend meetings with project teams, clients, and review agencies. Administer major contracts with consultants/contractors for studies and design projects. Coordinate with clients and oversee quality standards.
  • Team Management: Provide hands-on direction and coordinate the work of a unit, identifying potential design and scheduling issues and implementing cost-effective solutions. Manage and evaluate both direct reports and outside consultants. Maintain work schedules for direct reports and provide direct supervision of the team.
  • Accountabilities: Accountable for all Civil Engineering design activities, including consultant design activities, as well as the accuracy, cost controls, budget, reporting, and timeliness of all assigned projects and related client management. Ensure compliance with green book, building codes, and regulations.
Essential Skills
  • California Civil P.E. License
  • BS or MS in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 10 years of related progressive experience in management and responsibilities, including experience in supervision and development of LID, WQMP, Hydrology Reports, Cost Estimates, and NOI plans
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Certificates in Qualified Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (QSP) Developer, Qualified SWPPP Practitioner
  • Experience in multi-site project coordination with various disciplines
  • Experience in fuel at UST (underground storage tanks)
  • Portfolio of Projects
  • Experience in land development, hydrology, stormwater, grading, site development, drainage, MicroStation, site plans, schematic design, entitlement, construction documents, earthworks, AutoCAD, underground storage tanks, oil and gas, project coordination
Work Environment

The work environment is collaborative with small teams of 5-8 working on multiple projects. The civil team consists of experts in entitlement and permitting. The team size fluctuates between 15 to 22 employees, currently around 20 or less. Working hours are from 8 AM to 5 PM with minimal overtime unless working in the field. The schedule is Monday to Friday, with a hybrid option after 9-12 months of acclimation. The design team is in the office Monday to Wednesday, with the option to work hybrid for the rest of the week. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $39.00 - $76.00/hr.
