Job Description
We are seeking to hire a Heavy Civil Earthworks Estimator. The projects range from hard bid to negotiated, valued between $4-$25 million. Most of the work is pursued with the US Army Corps of Engineers, South Florida Water Management District, Southwest Florida Water Management District, and other government agencies. The Estimator will be responsible for developing accurate, profitable, and timely hard bid estimates, as well as pre-construction duties for negotiated contracts. Additionally, the Estimator will assist with construction administrative job duties when not estimating new jobs.
Responsibilities
This role is primarily based in an office environment, with site visits as required. The Estimator will report to the President and will provide leadership for a small office staff. This is an excellent opportunity to make a direct impact, help grow the company, and take on a leadership role.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $57.00/hr.

Job Description

The Estimator will be responsible for developing accurate, profitable, and timely hard bid estimates, as well as pre-construction duties for negotiated contracts. Additionally, the Estimator will assist with construction administrative job duties when not estimating new jobs.
Responsibilities
- Review project documents and site conditions.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits.
- Perform and review detailed takeoffs.
- Identify required subcontractors.
- Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Review subcontractor and supplier quotes.
- Identify issues and submit RFIs for clarification.
- Determine labor and equipment productions and requirements for work activities.
- Schedule and lead bid reviews.
- Manage the estimate on 'Bid Day'.
- Assist with developing project schedules.
- Assist with construction administrative duties, including document management, scheduling, and coordination.
- 3+ years of heavy civil construction experience.
- 3+ years of estimating experience.
- Experience with Army Corps of Engineers projects.
- Proficient with MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Experience with earthworks projects in Florida is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with clients (Army Corps of Engineers).
- Experience with RMS software.
- Knowledge of HCSS, Trimble Business Center, Hard Dollar, Planswift, Agtek, Primavera, or other estimating, scheduling, project management software is a plus.
