Salary: $140,000/Annum

The Opportunity:

As a member of the Engineering Disciplines team, you will play an important role in the development and execution of capital projects at the refinery and provide oversight of Civil / Structural engineering practices and standards consistent with national and BC building codes.

The Civil / Structural engineer will oversee a portfolio of civil / structural upgrades and work closely with project teams to plan and execute capital projects at the Burnaby Refinery. This is an opportunity to be part of multiyear major capital projects including the Burnaby refinery's development of low carbon and renewable fuels.

The individual will represent Parkland to lead technical aspects of Civil / Structural design at the facility and on projects through phases of engineering development and project execution - including Alternative Development and Selection, Front End Engineering and Design (FEED), Detailed Design, Construction and Commissioning and Close out.

Responsibilities:
  • Represent Parkland Refining B.C (PRBC) as the technical subject matter expert on Civil / Structural design for capital projects.
  • Work with EPCM Contractors through the development and detailed design phases on civil /structural design.
  • Play an active role in identification, development and selection of alternatives and provide civil / structural design input during the development phase of projects.
  • Participate and provide input pertaining to civil / structural design during design reviews and 30/60/90 percent model reviews.
  • Ensure development and implementation of specifications and standards for civil / structural design.
  • Work with external consultants to ensure regular updates to refinery civil / structural standards and specifications.
  • Work with EPCM contractors to provide technical support pertaining to civil /structural design and installation of equipment or static structures during the construction phase of the projects.
  • Provide input to capture lessons learned related to civil / structural design through life cycle of projects.
  • Manage a portfolio of civil/structural upgrade programs, which include the management of project integration, scope, schedule, cost, quality, resources, communication, risk, procurement, and stakeholders.

Education:
  • Bachelor of Structural Engineering degree

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 7 years of demonstrated experience in an oil and gas or heavy process industrial plant environment.
  • Strong team-player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • An effective problem solver, and ability to effectively handle several tasks/projects concurrently in a plant environment.
  • P.Eng or eligible for registration with EGBC as a specialist designation Structural Engineer.
  • Candidates must be legally able to work in Canada at this present time.
