Job Opportunity:

BHSI has an exciting opportunity for a Claims Manager on our Homebuilders claims team. At BHSI, our claims professionals are an integral part of our business. Every claim is handled with the utmost skill by seasoned and dedicated claims professionals. We are seeking an experienced professional to join our growing team in the Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, or New York office. This position is a great opportunity for practicing lawyers looking to transition out of a law firm as well as claim professionals with casualty or homebuilders claims experience.

In this role, the Claims Manager will have a unique opportunity to oversee a growing line of business and adjust all facets of homebuilders claims in a highly collaborative team environment, dedicated to best in class claims handling.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Leading and overseeing a growing line of business and adjusting Homebuilders claims impacting primary and excess policies while ensuring the highest level of customer service and technical claim file quality.
  • Collaborate and partner with insureds and brokers in the handling and adjudication of claims where issues or disputes may arise.
  • Prepare coverage letters as appropriate and communicate potentially problematic coverage positions internally.
  • Manage the coordination and handling of the claim investigation, evaluation, and resolution process to ensure cost- and time-efficient results.
  • Evaluate information related to coverage, liability, and damages to determine the extent of exposure to the insured and the company.
  • Prepare reports, set reserves within authority, and make claim recommendations concerning reserve changes.
  • Travel to internal meetings, industry conferences, client meetings, mediations, and trials as necessary.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience handling casualty and/or homebuilder claims and taking a leadership role, along with an ability to demonstrate technical mastery in the handling of specialized claims.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently to achieve results and assimilate learning materials on many different subjects from various sources.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, investigative and negotiation skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work effectively in a team environment and to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated experience in handling and adjusting claims in multiple jurisdictions and must possess, or successfully obtain, the required adjuster licenses when needed.
  • JD preferred.

The base salary range for this position is $160,000 to $180,000, along with annual bonus eligibility. Total compensation for a candidate is determined by their relevant skills, location, and experience.
