Salary Range: $185,000 - $215,000 (Annual) + Bonus
Position Description:
This position will play an important role in growing and servicing MacKay Shields' municipal retail assets under management in partnership with New York Life Investments. The primary responsibility of the Client Portfolio Manager is to serve as a key liaison between the MacKay Municipal Managers portfolio management team and clients by presenting investment strategies, addressing client needs, and being a proactive catalyst for growth. This role is based in the East Coast, preferably out of the Princeton, NJ office and will involve approximately 50-60% field travel in the US.

Responsibilities
Proactive Growth
- Establish a close working relationship with the municipal investment team while becoming an expert on the portfolios/strategies managed
- Understand investment vehicles including mutual funds, ETF's, closed end fund, interval fund, large separately managed accounts and private fund/limited partnership funds for Qualified Purchaser clients
- Develop strong relationships with New York Life Investments Advisor Consultant and Relationship Management sales professionals and be a proactive catalyst for growth. In essence, wholesale to wholesalers
- Become a CPM "in demand" for branch office field travel, conference speaking engagements, and sales related conference calls
- Play an integral, proactive role in field roadshows and campaign management.
- Collaborate with other New York Life Investments entities, including but not limited to Marketing, Product Management, and Field Support staff
- Field day to day product inquiries from NYLI sales professionals
Content Creation and Management
- Develop municipal insights, white papers, and talking points for NYLI Sales and financial advisors Be a consistent agent of product positioning
- Coordinate/develop RFP responses
- Draft ad-hoc market updates, as needed, with investment team approval
- Serve as a liaison between MacKay and NYLI Retail for presentation books/slides and secure proper approvals
Product Development/Launch Support
- Be an active participant in project management, team coordination, and communication related to new product initiatives
- Open doors share sales leads for our MacKay Shields taxable fixed income counterparts
Requirements
- 7-10+ years in the investment management industry
- Embrace 50-60% field travel in the U.S.
- Successful track record as a fixed income specialist
- Proven ability to achieve consistent results working with clients and prospects
- Seasoned track record of leading growth initiatives and achieving sales success
- Demonstrates highly polished/impactful public speaking skills
- Strong written and analytical skills with focus on investment content
- Proven organizational/multi-tasking skills amidst multiple internal and external stakeholders
- Investment designation(s) - minimum of CIMA (or comparable)
- Securities licenses: 7 and 63
