Job Description
Working under the leadership of the Clinical Education Director and in collaboration with the DuraStat Sales team, the Clinical Engagement Specialist is responsible for optimizing clinical awareness, competency, and expertise for Surgeons and OR Spine Staff at facilities that have DuraStat. This is accomplished primarily in person by conducting staff in-services, hands-on procedural spine model training, appropriate case identification training, case coverage/support, and procedural follow-up.

Job Description

Minimum Requirements
- Clinical background as an OR nurse, spine coordinator, surgical technician, or similar.
- Spine and orthopedic surgery clinical experience preferred.
- Industry/product experience developing and executing clinical programs desired for management/leadership roles.
Preferred
- Relevant industry, healthcare, marketing, or medical education experience with a specific focus on clinical case support and education.
- Experience in spinal surgery, pain management, or related specialties.
- Clinical knowledge of spinal anatomy, physiology, and imaging techniques.
- Experience with product/procedure that requires motivation, access, and implementation of patient flow across multiple constituents in the practice (MD, PA, nurse, spine coordinator, scheduler, etc.)
Essential Functions
Clinical Education:
- Focuses exclusively on assigned geography of facilities with DuraStat available on the shelf to develop broad clinical awareness.
- Expand DuraStat usage through staff in-servicing, case coverage/support, hands-on procedural spine model training, appropriate case identification training, and procedural follow-up.
- Identify spine surgeons practicing at each facility and complete demonstrations / clinical discussions to impart clinical information relevant to their practice
- Deploy educational tools and resources as applicable, including, but not limited to:
- OR wall instructions
- OR wall product holders
- Staff quick reference info sheets
- Literature summaries (for grand rounds, journal clubs, etc.)
- Ensure product placement is optimized to maximize visibility and accessibility when needed, for example:
- Storage location in sterile core - easy to access, clearly marked
- Kits placed on spine specialty carts - label location
- Add DuraStat to each spine surgeon's preference card
- Develop customer profiles, including those of surgeons using DuraStat and their experiences with the device.
- While in-person training is the priority, in some situations, clinical activities can and should be carried out virtually, such as through Zoom meetings. This may be due to the timeliness of carrying out events, facility access limitations, or geographical/travel constraints.
- Develops new programs to enhance usage by further engaging clinical staff and surgeons. Shares new plans and approaches with the Clinical Education team.
Travel & Logistics:
- Maintains an organized and flexible travel and work schedule and is within assigned geography daily to be available as unscheduled needs arise.
- Obtain and maintain multiple vendor clearance requirements to access the OR environment and attend cases within the assigned geography.
- May attend trade shows where new products and technologies are showcased and conferences to meet other sales representatives and customers and discuss new product developments.
- Attends company meetings either virtually or in person as required.
- Manages to define travel budget; reports travel expenses at least once a month.
Planning, Reporting, and Collaboration:
- Report critical updates via Salesforce CRM inputs and communications with Sales, Customer Experience, and Leadership.
- Leverages data tools such as Salesforce to develop an understanding of facilities before engagement.
- Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of assigned existing accounts and customers, including competitor activity.
- Work seamlessly with the Sales team to transfer customer knowledge and identify key selling opportunities.
- Work with Sales to transfer information regarding critical situations that require Sales follow-up, including but not limited to:
- Current users to lead expansion to other facilities.
- Surgeons who are unreachable via Clinical Education require Sales engagement.
Compensation
Base: $80-125K
Total Income: $130-140K
