Faculty Announcement:

The Frank R. Seaver College of Science and Engineering at LMU invites applicants for a Clinical Faculty position (open-rank) in Systems Engineering beginning Fall 2021. The Clinical Faculty position has a three-year term, which is renewable. Salaries for faculty are highly competitive along with all applicable benefits.

The Systems Engineering graduate program is housed in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE). The ECE Department offers academic programs leading to a B.S.E. in Electrical Engineering, M.S.E. in Electrical Engineering, M.S. in Systems Engineering, and several certificate programs. The candidate is expected to teach graduate courses in systems engineering and management, and to advise graduate students on capstone projects. An ability to actively help the program strengthen its ties with the surrounding high-tech industries is highly desirable, and it would be a plus if the candidate could teach electrical or computer engineering courses at the undergraduate or graduate level.

Technical focus areas of the Systems Engineering program and certificates include: Aeronautics and Space Systems, Engineering Project Management, Cybersecurity, and Software Architecture. Systems Engineering students can also select their technical focus area from the other engineering and science programs of our college, including Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Science, and Mechanical Engineering. The candidate is expected to have expertise in one or more of the technical focus areas.

The ECE Department and Seaver College jointly desire to identify expert individuals from diverse backgrounds and/or experiences to join the college's faculty. Inclusive excellence is a critical part of the university's mission and a key pedagogical dimension of the college. Accordingly, all applicants must have a desire to teach a student body which is diverse with respect to socio-economic status, ability, culture, academic interests, and career paths.

Loyola Marymount University, a Carnegie classified R2 institution in the mainstream of American Catholic higher education, seeks outstanding applicants who value its mission and share its commitment to inclusive excellence, the education of the whole person, and the building of a just society.
