POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
This is a highly visible position, serving as an expert clinical resource for RNs and other healthcare staff
The CNS will work with key stakeholders, shaping the way we approach perioperative services

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversees house-wide hospital initiatives related to perioperative care
Drives practice changes throughout our organization
Develops and maintains evidence-based nursing policies and protocols
Ensures our practices comply with national guidelines
Promotes clinical standards and practice improvements and evaluates outcomes
Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates educational offerings for staff
Designs curriculum for staff education days, online learning modules, and annual competencies
Evaluates quality outcomes and tracks quality indicator data
Remains current on evidence-based practice specific to perioperative care
Collaborates with cross-campus surgical services leadership, including Operating Room Nurse Managers, Peri-Anesthesia Nurse Managers, Assistant Nurse Managers, and Clinical Nurse Educators to maintain an exemplary level of nursing practice within perioperative services
Co-chairs relevant campus-specific and cross-campus committees
Evaluates new medical products, and directs education when processes or equipment change
REQUIREMENTS
Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN); or actively working towards a Master's Degree in Nursing
At least 2 years of perioperative nursing experience in an acute care medical center
Active licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State
A Perioperative Nursing Certification (CNOR) or a Perioperative CNS Certification (CNS-CP) is preferred but not required at time of hire
