GENERAL SUMMARY:
Provides support to the HRMC oncology team, including the HRMC oncologist, outpatient infusion center, HRMC inpatient pharmacy, and acts as a liaison to oncologists with patients receiving treatment at HRMC.

Provides support to the HRMC oncology team, including the HRMC oncologist, outpatient infusion center, HRMC inpatient pharmacy, and acts as a liaison to oncologists with patients receiving treatment at HRMC.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Adheres to all regulatory requirements, professional standards of practice, and hospital quality management policies and procedures in providing consultative pharmaceutical care
- Available to the oncologists to assist with all aspects of medication usage
- Attends the tumor board on Wednesday with the HRMC oncologist
- Verifies that prior authorizations have been approved before therapy initiates
- Maintains chemotherapy regimen order sets in consultation with the oncologist
- Reviews guidelines for appropriateness of therapy
- Clarifies chemotherapy orders in regard to doses, frequencies, and completeness
- Utilizes and initiates therapeutic interchange protocols
- Organizes and oversees chemotherapy technician infusion preparation and delivery of medication to the nursing unit
- Oversees education to oncology patients about side effects, toxicity and administration of medications
- Advises nursing staff in the administration of immunotherapy and chemotherapy
- Performs chemotherapy formulary management including minimizing non-formulary procurements
- Manages chemotherapy and supportive medication inventory
- Coordinates medication portion of oncology research participation
- Advises the clinical team in the identification and proper management of adverse drug events.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Knowledge of Federal and State laws and regulatory policies governing pharmacies/pharmacists.
- Basic computer skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- 3 years of hospital pharmacy experience or completion of a pharmacy practice residency
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Completion of ASHP accredited residency training in oncology
- Previous oncology experience
REQUIRED LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Kansas State Board of Pharmacy license active and in good standing
- BLS/ACLS certification
PREFERRED LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Oncology certification (BCOP) from the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) or similar level continuing education program
