The Clinical Pharmacist Specialist provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care to patients through integrated drug distribution, clinical services, research and teaching. The specialist acts as a pharmacotherapy leader on the Oncology patient care team. The specialist facilitates the attainment of positive patient outcomes by collaboration with Oncology health care professionals, integration into the team, and ultimately the attainment of optimal pharmacotherapy consensus in order sets, guidelines, protocols or other area documents and in the care of the individual patient.

MINIMUM Education:
  • Graduate of a college of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical

Education (ACPE) - Doctor of Pharmacy Degree; Baccalaureate Degree with three (3) to five (5) years of experience may substitute.

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:
  • Completing a PGY1 Pharmacy residency is required.
  • Completion of a PGY2 residency in the specialized area of pharmacy is preferred or pharmacy practice experience with more than 3 years' experience in clinical practice (in the area of specialty) is preferred.


KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
  • Excellent drug knowledge base including pharmacokinetics, dosing and nutritional support.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills


REQUIRED LICENSES, Certificates, Registrations:
  • Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist in the State of Illinois.
  • Completion of a Pharmacy Practice Residency (PGY1) required
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of pharmacy experience may substitute for a PGY2 Oncology Residency preferred.
  • The pharmacist is expected to be a Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist (BCOPP) within 4 years from hire.
  • ACLS Certification required
