About the Opportunity
The Department of Applied Psychology is seeking a full-time, non-tenure track clinical professor (open rank) to be the new program director for our Master of Science in Counseling Psychology (MSCP), a Licensed Mental Health Counselor program. The MSCP program director will lead an MSCP that has grown in size and reputation over the past few years and is ready for its next leader. The program director has the opportunity to work closely with an interdisciplinary team of professionals throughout the College and University to support students within the MSCP, build new opportunities for them, and create new programs that are deeply integrated into the Northeastern University Global Network.
The proposed faculty hire date is July 1, 2025 so that the new program director can learn from the current program director before taking on full administrative responsibilities for the Fall semester.

- Directing the MSCP (e.g., management of enrollment planning, curriculum, admissions)
- Teaching graduate courses in counseling psychology, including courses involving clinical supervision and clinical skills, and in the candidate's areas of expertise.
- Providing service and leadership to the Department, College, University, community and profession.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or a closely related field
- License eligible as a psychologist and health service provider in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
- Three years post-licensure experience experience providing clinical supervision to master's and doctoral level students
- Experience teaching at the graduate level in applied psychology
- Excellent communication, leadership, collaboration, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Record of effective teaching, supervision, and professional activity; including both didactic and clinical courses (face to face, hybrid, online)
- Direct experience in mental health counseling and supervision of mental health counseling utilizing evidence-based mental health interventions
- Record of applied clinical research desirable, but not required
- Previous administrative and leadership experience
- Demonstrated commitment to creating culturally responsive and supportive environments for students from diverse backgrounds
