Job Description

Mount Sinai Hospital, part of Sinai Health, is one of Canada's pre-eminent patient care, research and academic health science centres affiliated with the University of Toronto. The Department has a tradition of excellence in Neonatal clinical care, education and research and is closely allied to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The Department provides primary and tertiary care at regional and provincial levels respectively for newborn infants with specialized services for the resuscitation of infants with known cardiac disease and other congenital abnormalities. The Department in conjunction with the Division of Neonatology at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada and Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto, Canada forms part of a Fellowship Training Program in Neonatology, which is fully accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

The successful candidate will focus on research activities and clinical care to help ensure evidence-based practice guidelines. They must be able to work in conjunction with multidisciplinary teams and strive to improve the developmental outcomes of patients cared for in the NICU at Sinai. As part of their mandate to conduct leading research and enhance international collaboration in newborn research and care delivery, the successful candidate is expected to have a minimum of two years of subspecialty training in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. It is desirable for the candidate to demonstrate a strong clinical and academic interest in a subspecialty field within broad neonatal care. The candidate's subspecialty interest must be supported by evidence of initiation of a research track in a particular subspecialty and/or documented career trajectory in a specific area. The subspecialty field should be complementary to the existing expertise within the Department, and the candidate must demonstrate the ability to develop and execute research strategies related to patient care.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate must be able to function proficiently in English, hold an MD, MBBS or equivalent thereto and be certified or eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or have comparable qualifications. The successful candidate must be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto. Rank and salary ($120,000-$150,000) per annum will commensurate with qualifications and experience.
