Position Overview:

This Systems Administrator (Cloud Environment) role is responsible for working in a mixed Azure Cloud and *nix operating environment. The person selected will manage the instances of the cloud infrastructure services, multiple cloud servers, and physical servers, as required.

Working with the Enterprise Architect, development team technical leads, and with the core services team, the cloud systems administrator will configure, implement and manage the systems and resources which comprise the underlying platforms for various software applications. The SA must be familiar with all aspects of computing from understanding web application services, networking, OS configuration, etc. The individual should know how to use automated, or scripted methods for deploying software and cloud resources in an automated way. The individual will also monitor and alter the systems as per the prescribed methodology.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
    • The day-to-day responsibility will be to work in coordination with the development and core services team to develop and support cloud, Azure or *nix infrastructure. Provide technical assistance on windows, cloud-based systems, and resolve operational problems.
    • Perform day-to-day administration of Azure cloud services
    • Troubleshoot and resolve Azure performance issues, connectivity issues, security issues, etc.
    • Implement new environments in the Azure cloud, as needed.
    • Work with teams to integrate Azure infrastructure components into processes and procedures.
    • Manage and upgrade operating systems as required
    • Monitor and analyze the capabilities and performance of the systems
    • Be a contributing member to a DevSecOps team responsible for developing and maintaining a number of custom developed software applications


Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
    • Demonstrated practical Microsoft Server System Administrator experience.
    • Demonstrated practical Linux/Unix System Administrator experience.
    • Active Secret Clearance
    • Must possess COMPTIA Security + upon hire and earn 2nd technical certificate (preferably Azure related) within six months of start date (IAT II level compliance with DoD 8570.01).
    • AZ-104: Microsoft Azure Administrator Certification.
    • Significant hands-on experience administering and troubleshooting relevant Enterprise-level technologies - e.g., virtualization, networking, authentication, identity.
    • A strong understanding of Microsoft Azure Cloud technologies including IaaS/PaaS/SaaS.
    • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving Azure performance issues, connectivity issues, security issues, etc.
    • Familiarity with the following: Terraform, Ansible, Scripting (BASH), Azure Pipelines.
    • Excellent organizational skills.


Desired Skills:
    • Previous DoD computing environment knowledge.
    • Knowledge of containerization utilities such as Docker and container-orchestration, Kubernetes.
    • Azure DevOps Pipelines.
    • Infrastructure as Code, specifically Terraform.
    • Knowledge of network protocols and routing.
    • Clearance: Ability to obtain a Secret clearance is required.
