POSITION SUMMARY: The Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, deploying, and managing Thorne's cloud infrastructure across Azure and AWS platforms; ensuring the integrity and safety of our cloud environments through demonstrated expertise in data protection, security, and compliance and collaborating with cross-functional teams, to support our mission to drive innovation and maintain the highest standards of availability and security.

RESPONSIBILITIES - Satisfactorily performing and/or achieving the following Responsibilities are essential duties of the job.

Cloud Infrastructure Management:
  • Designs, deploys, and manages cloud infrastructure primarily on Azure and AWS platforms.
  • Ensures high availability, scalability, and security of cloud resources.
  • Ensures seamless integration of cloud services with existing on-premises systems and applications.
  • Designs integration strategies to facilitate data flow and communication between different components within Azure and AWS.
  • Assists with the performance monitoring of our cloud systems, identifies bottlenecks or issues, and optimizes resource utilization to improve efficiency and reduce cost.
  • Troubleshoots issues that arise in our cloud environment, provides technical support to our users and teams and ensures the high availability of cloud services.

Data Protection:
  • Manages data protection solutions, ensuring data integrity and security.
  • Develops and enforces data protection policies and procedures.

Azure Entra:
  • Configures and manages Azure Entra solutions to support secure and compliant access to resources.
  • Manages identity and access management (IAM) strategies using Azure Entra.

Azure Defender:
  • Deploys and manages Azure Defender to enhance security posture and protect against threats.
  • Monitors and responds to security alerts and incidents.

Intune:
  • Manages and configures Microsoft Intune for device and application management.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements through Intune configurations.

Azure Site Recovery:
  • Implements and manages Azure Site Recovery for disaster recovery and business continuity.
  • Conducts regular tests of disaster recovery plans and update as necessary

Security and Compliance:
  • Enforces security policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Conducts regular security assessments and audits.

Collaboration and Support:
  • Works closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and provide cloud solutions.
  • Provides support and guidance to other IT team members and end-users.


What You Need:

Experience and/or Education: Degree in Computer Science or a related field. Minimum 3-5 years' experience in cloud engineering, with a focus on Azure or AWS.

Computer and Technical Skills: Able to use the equipment (company-provided laptop computer) and software required to accomplish the responsibilities of the position.
Proficient in Azure and AWS cloud platforms.
Familiarity with orchestration tools (Puppet/Ansible) and Terraform
Strong knowledge of data protection solutions and best practices.
Experience with Azure Entra, Azure Defender, Intune, and Azure Site Recovery.
Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, SOX, HIPAA).
