COMBUSTION ENGINEER

Acme Brick Company (a Berkshire Hathaway Inc. company) is an organization of professionals in the building materials manufacturing and distribution industry. We manufacture and distribute clay brick and concrete block and sell and distribute associated products manufactured by others. We operate in 13 states with a philosophy that we are much more than a brick manufacturer and distributor.

Summary

We are seeking a "best in class" Combustion Engineer that will provide kiln, combustion, and any burning department support. This candidate has experience in combustion functions of kilns along with any support that is needed for burning department function. The ideal candidate has a natural ability to adapt and work with many levels of Associates when it comes to day-to-day kiln operations and the things needed to maintain the burning department. Need to be flexible to oversee anything that might come their way. You will be a strong and reliable support to company operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities are listed below and are not limited to this list. Like all positions, safety is the first and most important part to any position.

  • Perform kiln audits for maximum optimization of kiln operation keeping efficiency and quality in mind.
  • Perform dryer audits for maximum drying control.
  • Work with local plant management to train all Associates for their respective jobs.
  • Serve as a resource for reliability as it pertains to safe, proper, and efficient kiln and dryer operations.
  • Work with local QC and Plant Management to ensure the Interactive P-cubed quality program is maximized as it relates to dryer and kiln quality.
  • Handle projects on kilns are they are being conducted.
  • Work with kiln car repair at the respective locations for keeping fleets in good condition.
  • Be able to work with local Plant Management when CIP projects are being planned and aid in assisting with obtaining quotes and preparing CIP's.
  • Assist Plant Management and Associates with performing yearly kiln safety system audit, ensuring the safety system is 100% functional and meets the Acme Brick Standards.
  • Be able to travel to multiple locations as needed. (Primarily in the South Texas Region - covering the Elgin and Sealy Plants)
  • Have good working knowledge of the environmental control scrubbers and assist with proper operation.
  • Maintain reliability of the environmental scrubbers. (Proper bag changes, damper operations, lime feed etc.)
  • Learn and Assist with the Direxion control system.
  • Perform any tasks that Acme Brick deems necessary

Qualifications
