JOB OVERVIEW

The Commercial Asset Manager (CAM) is a key member of the Asset Management team, primarily supporting the financial and compliance asset management function. The ideal candidate will be responsible for optimizing financial and operational performance, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, and managing stakeholder relationships to maximize asset value.

JOB LOCATION AND REPORTING TO

This position will be based in either our New York City or San Francisco office or for the right candidate as a remote position. The Commercial Asset Manager reports to the Director of Commercial Asset Management and works cross-functionally with teams across the organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Performance and Reporting
  • Responsible for P&L management of operating energy assets including budgeting, variance analysis, and value creating strategies
  • Lead relationship between all external financial counterparties and ensure compliance with each financing agreement
  • Establish annual project budgets, and oversee cash flow management/forecasting processes (in accordance with financial agreements)
  • Review actuals to budget, waterfall and investor distribution models, and support analyses of financial structures and returns, including tax equity buyouts and refinancing
  • Compile customer billing reconciliations and interface with customers regarding billing questions or system performance
  • Lead asset management team in ensuring timely and accurate revenue and expense accruals

Commercial Operations and Compliance
  • Preparation and review of key project contracts
  • Collaborate with teams to properly on-board assets into the platform to ensure proper transition of assets to the asset management group
  • Ensure internal compliance tool is up to date, and monitor compliance for both financial and project contractual requirements
  • Understand and assess causes for technical and financial underperformance of assets in collaboration with the team member assigned to each asset
  • Manage contractual REC obligations, relationships, and new business
  • Insurance program management and reporting. Ensure all claims are documented in the internal system and work with relevant counterparties to close out open claims.
  • Community Solar program management

Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams
  • Partner with the internal teams to provide input on the pro-forma financial model for new projects, ensuring alignment with operational realities.
  • Support the seamless transition of projects from Construction to Operations
  • Lead and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with key project agreements, incentive programs, regulatory requirements, and other project obligations.
  • Maintain insurance reporting in conjunction with Development to ensure all projects are covered under our policy
  • Assist the Accounting team with reconciliation of accounts and preparation of annual financial audits as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of asset management experience in renewable energy
  • Highly organized, exceptional communication skills and strong attention to detail
  • Proven ability to perform accurately (data analysis) and timely (deliverable deadlines)
  • Desire to support a high-energy, evolving team in an early-stage company
  • Bachelor's degree with high academic achievement
  • Strong computational and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills in both oral and written English
  • Strong Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
  • Self-motivated and strong work ethic with the ability to proactively manage diverse relationships and multiple, complex projects simultaneously
  • Potential to be creative, flexible, and think critically in tackling a variety of challenges, from the industry level to customer-specific
  • Desire to work in a growing company in the renewable energy field

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position is primarily sedentary in nature and requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk in front of a computer. The Commercial Asset Manager should be comfortable traveling to various sites including construction sites and being around heavy equipment.
