POSITION SUMMARY
The Commercial Loan Officer is responsible for managing and developing a portfolio of commercial loan relationships, ensuring alignment with the Bank's financial goals. The role involves evaluating loan requests, working along with credit partners to complete credit analysis and preparing loan proposals. The officer will collaborate with clients to understand their financial needs, provide tailored solutions and maintain ongoing relationship to drive client satisfaction and retention.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Call on prospective and existing clients to nurture ongoing relationships and identify opportunities for bank growth.
- Generate a network of referral sources for loan opportunities.
- Actively identify and refer cross selling opportunities to other areas of the Bank.
- Contribute to the achievement of Commercial Team goals as it relates to revenue & portfolio growth, asset quality and compliance.
- Attendance at industry and Bank sponsored events to enhance and strengthen existing client relationships and expand professional network.
- Promote the Bank's image in the community through participation in business, social and civic group activities.
- Formulate loan structures that best protect the Bank and meet the needs of the client.
- Negotiate terms with the customer that reflect the customer's needs while ensuring acceptable bank risk profile.
- Produce Commercial Loans in line with the Bank's Lending Policy and credit culture.
- Work with the Commercial Team to underwrite new and existing loans.
- Facilitate loan closings.
- Perform regular site visits to existing client base.
- Aid in the management of criticized and work out credits as assigned.
- Work with the Commercial Team to ensure all managed relationships are appropriately risk rated.
- Monitor assigned portfolio for red flags (bankruptcies, late payments, past due taxes, etc.) and take appropriate action to minimize the risk to the Bank associated with these issues.
- Serve as a mentor to junior team members to assist in their professional development.

Education/Experience/Skills & Abilities
- Minimum 7 years of experience as a commercial lender and ability to manage a large commercial loan portfolio.
- Experience as a commercial credit analyst preferred or similar sound credit background.
- Knowledge of Small Business Administration guaranty programs.
- Strong analytical, verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Strong negotiation and sales ability.
- Must be a responsible and independent worker who can interact well with other members of the Commercial Team.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
