Altrad is currently in search of an experienced Commercial Manager to become a vital part of our team at a prominent Construction Project situated in Kitimat, BC. This role entails a 14:7 roster (or 20:8 roster - depending on the point of hire), working 10 hours per day. Flights and accommodation will be provided for non-local candidates on a Full-Time/Fixed-Term Contract basis. The Commercial Manager will play a pivotal role in managing commercial contracts, negotiations, and procurement activities, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. KEY OBJECTIVES
- Leads and influences the development of the project commercial management systems, strategic direction and focus. Provides leadership of the project administration team, this includes leading the development of project contract administration systems and standards, processes and plans.
- Leads the analysis and reporting of the project commercial activity performance and initiates strategies to improve outputs across the project.
- Responsible for ensuring commercial performance is kept at the forefront of budget holders minds, awareness and consultative communications are in place and are being adhered to.
- Ensures that the contract is complied with and assign sufficient resources to implement, develop, and maintain positive commercial performance throughout the life of the Project in accordance with the contract.
- Build and maintain productive internal and external relationships to engage stakeholders and enable the delivery of the strategy.
MAIN ACTIVITIES
- Actively promote safety awareness and safe work practices and compliance with safety management plans.
- Actively promote environmentally responsible work practices and compliance with environmental management plans.
- Develop site/project strategy with internal stakeholders, ensuring business initiatives are designed in alignment with overall business plan.
- Provide leadership and direction for the contract commercial team.
- Development and management of site contract administration procedures as required.
- Actively participate & provide constructive feedback in all training programs provided
- Conduct contract commercial re-focus sessions as required.
- Ensure appropriate project focus and allocation of resources to achieve forecasts.
- Conduct trend analysis, highlight key bottlenecks and leverage points within the project operations.
- Support and assist project budget stakeholders with key performance reporting for their department.
- Identify, develop and improve opportunities and present proposals for implementation to the project management team.
- Facilitate workshops to implement and foster improvement skills and culture across the project.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant statutory and legislative provisions.
- Manage the engagement and performance of external subcontractor and suppliers and monitor the quality and standard of services delivered by external subcontractors, as required.
- Develop and maintain effective networks through collaborative relationships with client, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Agree valuation methodology for project and report appropriately.
- Contribute to succession planning and development of contract management competency, including appropriate training and assessment in order to competently, safely and productively perform all aspects of their role.
- Demonstrate a willingness and capability to perform other duties as deemed appropriate and consistent with your professional qualifications, skill or experience.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
- Tertiary qualification in commerce, law or associated field and/or at least 10-15 years operational experience in the resources/construction industry.
- Knowledge of relevant commercial legislation and experience in negotiation of large contracts.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships.
- High motivation and attention to detail.
- Some experience in Client commercial roles desirable but not essential.
