The Commercial Manager will assist all commodity teams with contacts and commercial leads in but not limited to the New Orleans, LA and surrounding areas. This will likely also include requirements from our overseas Partners throughout the Americas. This position functions as a hybrid between the commodity team and overseas commercial representation (JES/JW). The Commercial Manager will also work with CCO and business analyst to table and organize leads and contacts.

Commercial Manager duties include but are not limited to:

  • Manage and collaborate with KAMs to execute assigned business plans with clients in the Houston area.
  • Participate in sales presentations, sales meetings, and trade shows.
  • Work closely with clients to determine achievable goals.
  • Aggressively pursue and establish leads and contacts throughout the industry.
  • Seek business opportunities both within and around the agency business.

Business Intelligence and Analytics

  • Lead and grow the practice of analytics as a mechanism to create competitive advantages.
  • Build relationships with technology providers used for data analytics in conjunction with operational and business analyst functions.
  • Responsible for synthesizing numerous sources of data and key analysis and translating into specific actions.
  • Collaborate with frontline operations to drive Data and Analytics awareness.
  • Provide strategic and tactical direction including creating synergies, avoiding work duplications, and establishing prioritization
  • Other duties as required by Management.

Requirements:
  • Bachelors in Business, Marketing, or related field required.
  • Seven to ten (7-10) years' verifiable experience in Commercial Maritime Operations.
  • Seven to ten (7-10) years' verifiable experience in Sales and Relationship Building.
  • Previous experience in the marine agency or related industry required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create a results-driven, team oriented environment.
  • Must be able to travel internationally and regionally up to 25%.
  • Must have excellent organization skills and ability to multi-task procedural and project management tasks within short time constraint situations.
  • Computer experience including work with Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word and related computer exposure, preferably utilizing a lap-top.
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills.
  • Confident with decision making in regards to determining project guidelines, purpose, following through and completion.
  • Understanding of financial reports including budgetary guidelines and project expenditures.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and clean / safe motor vehicle record.
  • Must be able to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC).
